“Happy now?”

Filed in National by on February 19, 2011

Pam Scott didn’t actually say that in her “See ya later bitches*” statement, but she might as well have.

As for me, I have no comment. I’m not very invested in NC County stuff, which is odd because I’m much more likely to be hosed by the county than I am to be hosed by some other level of government.

  1. Wow, this is a surprise. Good move by Ms. Scott. I hope she has a good job lined up.

  2. Dana Garrett says:

“[Kovach] said, however, he still represents some clients that he started working with when he was with the firm.”

What irony. Now Kovach arguably has more potential conflicts of interests than Clark. Lol.

  3. Obama2008 says:

Given a choice between power and money, people always choose power. Power can always get you more money later.

  4. nemski says:

    Interesting letter. She wrote

No one has been able to find any unfair advantage garnered by the firm, myself or my husband as a result of our respective positions

Seriously, no on has been able to find any wrong doing? Why not say “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

    Odd choice of words

  5. The law firm that Kovach resigned from includes the chemical industry’s lead shill and lobbyist (Parkowski) and the uber-lobbyist fixer (David Swayze) as partners.

If Kovach wants to convince us that he truly is an ethical public servant, he can start by publicly stating that he will not meet with either of these vultures during his term in office.

Only lazy media types could have possibly spread the meme that Kovach was a leader in ‘environmental issues’. Nothing says ‘environmentalist’ more than working for the attorney who goes to bat for Delaware’s worst corporate environmental offenders.

  6. Right, Nemski, it is a carefully-parsed letter. I’d also like to ask her what she would consider an unfair advantage as opposed to a fair advantage. Otherwise, why use the word ‘unfair’ at all.

Everybody who thinks that her working for Saul Ewing on county development and zoning matter while being married to a high-ranking county elected official placed her at a DISadvantage please raise your hands.

So, Pam is exploring other opportunities. Wonder if one of them is DelDOT Secretary?

  8. Linda says:

I think its a admirable move by Pam Scott and she should be commended for being a devoted spouse. Problem is, she’s a better land-use attorney than Clark will EVER be a County Executive. The wrong one resigned. Paul’s potential conflicts of interest with his wife was a big reason why he would make a lousy County Exec. But there are oh, so many more.

  9. Before singing too many praises for Scott, check out her Saul.com page for where she has been wielding her influence and from where she’ll continue. Especially:
    TMA Delaware
Member, Board of Directors, Committee of 100; Chairperson, Land Use Committee
Member, Board of Directors, New Castle County Chamber of Commerce

My theory is that neither Paul nor Pam give a fuck if they are screwing us over for the special interests they serve and the dollars they pocket. Neither felt the least bit conflicted and were not going to budge an inch but for her employer’s trepidation.

Saul has the county bond business and that rakes in more money for them than Pammy alone. They stood to lose that business if she stayed on. They must have given her the boot once the Ethics Commission ruled that there was no remedy for the conflict. I just wonder if she’ll take her clients with her (Jay Sonecha and Keith Stoltz to name a few).

And besides, she’s already accomplished the work with Paul to change county law per the wish list of the Committee of 100 and NCC Chamber.
