Wingnut Fundraising Email Sounds Too Much Like Parody of Wingnut Fundraising Email
I had to read the whole thing to figure out if this was real:
Dear Reader,
Bill O’Reilly was absolutely right last night.
As he said on his Fox News show the other night, the Democrats know that if they lose in Wisconsin and that if Gov. Scott Walker wins, it means that all across the country the public employee unions will finally have to give up their outrageous pay demands, lavish benefits and fat pensions.
These public employees flaunting their cell phones, and 2001 Toyota Camrys. It is sickening.
And, as Bill O’Reilly said, this will be bad news for the Democratic party which depends on these unions. Worse, he said, it is bad news for President Obama and his 2012 election plans, because he desperately needs these liberal unions to win re-election. This is why team Obama continues to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Governor Scott Walker. (snip)
You have to remember, this is not a local Wisconsin fight. It’s a national one. That’s why Obama has brought to Wisconsin the full weight of every radical activist group in America.
That team Obama. Has the world ever seen a more energetic leftists dynamo of evil? I mean, if “team Obama” throws more weight into this battle it is going to be like when Cuba, Nicaragua, and Russia teamed up on the feisty Wolverines in Red Dawn.
That’s why the Obama allied unions are pouring millions into TV and radio ads in Wisconsin.
Then it goes on to say that Norman Lear and Obama are spending like a trillion dollars to defeat freedom or some shit like that. It really did go on and on about how horribly organized, wealthy and effective the American left is… go figure. You’d think someone like me, who sorta pays attention to political stuff, would have heard about how fucking awesome the American “left” is.
Anyway, that’s why wingnuts are asked to give money to this “League of American Voters”
The League also led the fight to force Pres. Obama to renew the Bush tax cuts. Our national TV effort with Sen. Fred Thompson worked. Obama caved.
Now, the League has prepared a powerful new radio ad to air throughout Wisconsin in support of Gov. Walker. With your help we plan on exposing the Obama-Labor machine in ads across the nation. Our ad encourages Gov. Walker to stay strong and exposes how public employee unions are gouging the taxpayers.
We urgently need you to help the League in the vital effort to support Gov. Walker and expose the unions – Go Here Now
Help the League to end Big Labor’s ability to hold taxpayers, school students, and emergency services hostage to the lavish demands of public unions.
Governor Walker is under intense pressure. Team Obama wants to break him.
I think someone should read these wingnut fundraising emails to “team Obama” so that they know what their strategy looks like to the conservative base.
One Congressman who backs Obama even suggested violence is OK: “Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary.”
This is disgusting and this Congressman ought to be held accountable! But it underscores the truth, Obama and his public union cronies are desperate. They’ll do whatever it takes to keep power.
Uncontexualized quoting is fun! Let’s bring it home with a quote from the devil himself.
That’s why Obama says “Punish our enemies… Reward our friends”
But together, you and I can help Scott Walker do what’s right for Wisconsin — what’s right for America.
Help the League to support Gov. Scott Walker. Go Here Now
Yours for Freedom,
Bob Adams
Executive Director
Question: Are conservatives really a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, or simply a loose confederation of grifters?
I think conservatives have more in common with Somali pirates than with Jefferson and Madison.
And, why do these guys keep kicking our ass?
What could he be talking about?
The Prez is completely ABSENT in labors fight for survival in Wisconsin so far. His tepid weigh-in was vapid and worthless.Nothing like what he espoused on the campaign trail.
Another HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT from this BALL-LESS wonder I now regret voting for and supporting so enthusiastically.
Costa Rica, here I come.
Some think that Obama is on the sidelines because he does not want to draw attention to his federal pay freeze. I happen to think he is on the sidelines because he likes the view from the sidelines.
@j330 “I happen to think he is on the sidelines…”
@j330 ‘Has the world ever seen a more energetic leftists dynamo…”
You just lost ALL credibility.
New here? I lost all credibility five years ago.
I happen to agree with both observations.
If Jason actually lost credibility whenever someone said he lost credibility, Delaware would become a vortex of negative credibility energy and collapse into a black hole. Thanks for playing though.
I think the president should stay on the sidelines. If Obama got involved the story would change from Walker vs the people to Walker vs Obama. I think the important thing about the protests is there spontaneity and relative lack of leadership. They are definitely more real and grassroots than the Tea Party.
Obama already had his shot to strengthen unions.
The enthusiasm gap didn’t help Wisconsin Democrats much either.
I respectfully disagree. I think that Obama should have joined the picket line in WI just as he explicitly promised to do during his campaign for President should there ever be an attempt to eliminate collective bargaining rights. MSNBC ran the video clip several times where he made that explicit promise.
Moreover, in 2012 Democrats will depend on enthusiastic GOTV union workers in the presidential election as they do for every presidential election. Union workers will remember Obama’s tepid support of the WI public employees. And though some union workers will be persuaded by the standard “The Democratic candidate (Obama) beats the alternative,” it’s foolish to ignore the millions of workers on the margin who actually want and need to feel good about a candidate before they spend their free time working for him/her by going door to door, etc. “The “So and so beats the alternative” argument is psychologically and strategically naive. It’s not motivating.
Obama only needed to join the picket line one time in WI and make a few strong speeches in favor of the WI workers to motivate union workers (and all workers who think preserving collective bargaining rights is vitally important). That would have been enough to create a memory to motivate potential millions of GOTV workers for 2012.
Well put Dana. This President does not see any upside in supporting Democratic constituencies, because SHUT UP DIRTY HIPPY, the alternative is electing Republicans.
That argument does not acknowledge the large downside of diminished unity and enthusiasm among Democrats.
I think you’re absolutely wrong. People don’t need the president’s permission and help to organize themselves. The predicted has 0 votes in the Wisconsin legislature and all the Dems are already united. He would be a distraction IMO.
Oh jeez. Here we go again. UI and Cassandra, (because I hear Cassandra’s footsteps echoing down the hallway toward this thread) what are the President’s responsibilities as the head of the Democratic Party? In your opinion, does he even have any?
Obama only needed to join the picket line one time in WI
I get where you are coming from Dana, but I think this would be unpresidential as well as probably unprecedented. The teabaggers would finally have a point about Federal meddling in state business. It would be a PR disaster for the Wisconsin workers.
The President shouldn’t go beyond guarded expressions of support. But he should be doing a lot behind the scenes. And maybe he is – weren’t the wingnuts complaining just last week Trumka was the most frequent White House visitor?
I think the world has ended because O2008 agrees with me.
UI, we agree on all the issues. That’s the problem.
No one is talking about people needing the President’s “permission” to organize themselves. Rather the point is that the President should visibly join them when they do, especially when he EXPLICITLY promised he would so specifically on the issue of collective bargaining.
Also, I don’t give a rip about giving the teabaggers a point. They don’t need any presidential provocations to invent points to use against the President. Besides, Democratic constituencies shouldn’t be neglected because of the possible gripes of the lunatic right.
To suggest that political catastrophe would result from the President standing on a picket line merely ONE time strikes me as convictional timidity masquerading itself as political pragmatism.
Dana: While I agree I wish he would have at the very least made a statement that “he stands with labor and collective bargaining”, I am not sure he really does. He has moved so far to the right to try and grab some of those independents, if he said something pro labor he might upset all his new Wall Street buddies he’s courting for campaign monies. The problem as I see it is the corporate media has done little if anything in discussing what is going on in American’s progressive movement. There were hundreds of thousands marching in 60 cities yesterday, if not for the bloggers and alternative news, we wouldnt know that. Did Obama tell the NYTimes and WAPO not to report it, like he did on the CIA killer in Pakistan that he referred to as a diplomat. Why is the US press covering up these stories. It took the BBC to tell the truth! The press did the same thing in the run ups to these wars. They are propagandists at best. There is a story (buzzflash) today about Walker hiring a guy for $90,000 who already has 3 or 4 state pensions, while he attacks teachers. I blame the media more than the President. Thinking he is so overwhelmed by events in the mideast, and how this government is going to handle the facts they have supported all these dictatorships, he might be leaving this issue alone to see where it goes. Maybe he will wait for millions in the street before he takes a position.
