Delaware’s 9-12 Patriots Turn Me Down Cold

Filed in National by on March 2, 2011

Delaware Patriots sure clam up quick when they get emails from liberals. I might go so far as to say that they are chicken shits.

You read the email trail and decide.

Email Number 1:

Hi Fellow Delawareans & 9-12 Patriots,

I’m Jason, a blogger for Delaware’s number 1 political blog,
Delawareliberal.net. I was wondering if one of you would be interested
in a 25 minute call in interview for our blog’s podcast segment.

By now you’ve all heard that the News Journals Ron Williams has spoken
State Republican Party Chairman Tom Ross who said, “We’re just going
to give
them the keys and let them run the show. See ya later.”

So you guys now have the keys to the Delaware GOP and I was wondering
what you planned on doing with them. It would just be a cordial
conversation to learn more about what the 9-12 patriots are all about.
Topics like:

*What do you make of Tom Ross’s statement?

* Your backed candidates didn’t do so well in the last election, how
do you see that changing in 2012

* I thought that the Tea Party was focused on fiscal conservatism, but
there seems to be a lot of social conservatism involved – is there a
tension?

* You are very active with six meetings a month statewide, can you
discuss some of the speakers & topics that have generated the most
interest?

Stuff like that.

Let me know what date and time works for you and I’ll need a phone
number eventually.

Thanks

JS

Then there was a little “Reply all” snafu on thier side, but hey..I don’t judge, so I sent Email Number 2:

Theresa,

That email was not meant for me. To demonstrate my good faith going
into this I have deleted it unread, so you don’t have to worry about
the error. It happens.

I hope that my request for an interview is looked upon favorably.

JS

No response, so I sent email Number 3:

To: TGarcia123@aol.com,
russ@912delawarepatriots.com,
theresa@912delawarepatriots.com,
alex@912delawarepatriots.com

subject Re: Delaware Undiluted – Interview Request

Hello again.

I haven’t heard anything back, so I wanted to give you an alternate
email address, because I know that this one is flaky.

Jason330@delawareliberal.net.

Also, I didn’t mention this, but I’d like to record the podcast on
Thursday, so if none of you are available or open to this sort of
thing, you might have some contact information for someone willing to
speak on behalf of Delaware’s Tea Party members.

Thanks,

JS

Then I finally got a response:

Thank you for your interest in the 9-12 Delaware Patriots, but at this time we are not giving interviews.

9-12 Delaware Patriots Board of Directors

So I responded to their response and I guess I let my cool slip a touch.

Dear Patriots,

Naturally, I am disappointed with your decision. As Thomas Jefferson,
the great secular humanist founding father of our great American
nation wrote, “Information is the currency of democracies.” I guess
you are in currency hoarding mode for the time being. So be it.

While you guys are not up for it, I’m still interested in speaking
with some Tea Party members for the podcast. If you know anyone from
the ranks for the Tea Party or insurgent side of the Delaware
Republican party who would be interested in being interviewed for the
podcast, I would be eager to speak to them.

Thanks

JS

I love that you attempted this, but am not surprised at the result. This group only preaches to the choir.

  2. jason330 says:

With Tom Ross handing over the keys, the 9-12 Delaware Patriots are now real players. They need to accept that role and stop acting like fringe players. I realize that this podcast barley qualifies as “the media” but if they can’t talk to me for 25 minutes about their agenda – who can they talk to?

  3. PBaumbach says:

quite consistent with the COD campaign after she beat out Castle in the primary

too bad that you couldn’t get a video of them barring you from a meeting, ala Rachel Maddow’s attempts to speak to a COD campaign spokesperson

  4. pandora says:

They may have the keys, but they don’t have the money to put gas in the car. One of their favorite pastimes is bashing the Greenville elites. I can’t wait to watch this mess play out.

Of course, it won’t be the 9-12er’s/TPer’s fault when the party crashes – nothing ever is. Seriously, how dare people they’ve called every name in the book not open their checkbooks.

Ayotte has taken a leave of absence from delawarepolitics to… I have no idea why.

Pass the popcorn. This is gonna be such fun to watch.

  5. Hey, they used to love coming over here to spread their wisdom. Perhaps maybe GOP chair Mike Protack would be willing to talk.

  6. jason330 says:

Protack…Yes. I’ll see if he is willing to speak on behalf of all newly enfranchised Delaware Republicans.

Anybody have contact info for Protack?

  7. socialistic ben says:

so who wants to email bomb them until they grant the interview… or change their email addresses?

  8. cassandra m says:

I’m not surprised that they are such chickenshits, but kudos to you Jason for being willing to speak to these whackos. Apparently the only way they’ll speak to us is via their multiple sockpuppets that comment here.

  9. pandora says:

We don’t have to do anything, Ben, other than sit back and watch the show.

The DE GOP is in shambles. If the 9-12ers don’t take over the party they’ll turn their focus on completely destroying it. If they do take over, they’ll destroy it through their complete and utter incompetence. Either way it’s destroyed.

Altho, as a liberal… I gotta admit that the Ayotte or Protack show will be the most entertaining and cringe-worthy.

  10. jason330 says:

No SB. I asked, they said no. That is that. To be clear, there is a little trepidation on both sides. We don’t want to be exposed to each others cooties. They are just a little more fearful that I am I suppose.

  11. socialistic ben says:

so what you’re saying is…. no one should wage a cyber mischief campaign against the 912 teabaggers on behalf of DL, but if an american who thinks the new leaders of a major political party should answer to the public decides to go rouge……….
nawww im just kidding. annoying bullying is for the Baggers. we’ll just laugh while they fail every 2 years.

  12. Geezer says:

“Ayotte has taken a leave of absence from delawarepolitics to…”

He claims it’s so he can concentrate on running for party chairman, I suppose against Mike Protack.

A major flaw in the conservative movement is that it’s always been about “no.” Their platform does not exist except in opposition to the supposed “more government” philosophy they attribute to all who aren’t on their team. That flaw was recognized as early as the 1950s by the brighter lights in their firmament, and it still hasn’t been solved.

If they understood history, instead of citing it in ignorance, they would realize the same thing happened after the original Tea Party and the successful revolution — they had no plan for actually governing, and the “country” almost fell apart. The Constitution they claim to revere was a response to the lack of a central government. That it took only the most limited steps in that direction was a response to the continued lack of understanding about what is involved in governance. What they regard as “creeping Statism” is a continual, evolving understanding of how much authority is needed to guarantee a more fair and equal society.

The reason they don’t want a fair and equal society should be obvious — they believe that in a battle for survival they will come out on top.

  13. skippertee says:

What did Bette Davis say in All About Eve? “Fasten your seat belts, it’s gonna be a bumpy night”?
More like a bumpy year for the GOP here in Delaware.
    And I LIKE it!

  14. Geezer says:

“Anybody have contact info for Protack?”

Just post something about pink postcards and contact him through whichever sock puppet responds first.

  15. MJ says:

I’m surprised they didn’t have Curley from WGMD respond to you. My guess is that you’ll be topic #1 on his show today, you effete, liberal snob (j/k).

  16. Real American says:

Fat boy from wgmd can only talk to his few, very few followers, he won’t talk to any real people.

  17. aoine says:

You can find them at leg hall…the garcias and Murphy are registered lobbyists now. They r working on bills for the legislature…like anti-immigration bills etc….
You might also want to bring a big gun…judging by the size of the weapon Alex Garcia was photographed with on the front of Tnj and the way they were presented in Will Bunches book I hear they r really shy about interviews Now…see they actually told the truth about their radical and crazy views and now they r looked at as pariahs in the legislature…Lol. All coz they opened their big mouths for the publicity. Seems they found out that not all publicity is good publicity.

  18. The Delaware GOP’s choices for party chair are Ayotte and Protack? Wow.

  19. jason330 says:

I’m just really curious about how Delaware’s second largest political party is going to manage under its new management. Also, the fact that the “Rinos” rolled over so easily and turned over the keys – it wasn’t the long battle they were anticipating, so what is their take on that?

  20. jason330 says:

    UI,

And Protack is the “insider.” Great Caesar’s Salad!!

  21. aoine says:

@Jason…..did I miss something…is the take over complete? Next up….republicans for carper signs on rt 202 from what I hear…..looks like the dem party just got bigger…

  22. jason330 says:

This Tom Ross quote is the crux of it, ““We’re just going to give them the keys and let them run the show.”

How accurate is that? The keys have been offered, have they been accepted? We don’t know.

  23. Avagadro says:

“Delaware’s 9-12 Patriots Turn Me Down Cold”

wow, they are smarter than I thought.

  24. jason330 says:

Yes. I seem have run into “Operation Under the Radar.” There is a collective understanding among teabagz that the less they say between now and when one of them is installed as the DE GOP chair, the better.

They feel as though the war is won and they don’t want to unnecessarily antagonize the old guard prior to officially inking the deal.

  25. jason330 says:

Uncovering “Operation Under the Radar” has been pretty interesting and worthy of it’s own post. (If anyone knows anything about John Sigler he seems to have muscled out both Protack and Ayotte.)

Of course, nobody wanted Protack in the first place, so that was not much of an accomplishment. The real accomplishment will be the Tea Party take over of the DE GOP on April 29th. A take over accomplished by Vance Phillips without a “shot” ever being “fired.”

  26. Geezer says:

Isn’t he the NRA guy? Does that mean the NRA has taken over the Delaware GOP, instead of running it from the shadows?

  27. jason330 says:

I think I’ve jumped the gun on Sigler. Vance is in scramble mode because neither Protack nor Ayotte are really viable.

  28. Jim Westhoff says:

First of all, the heads of a political movement should always be ready to talk about the issues with whomever. That’s part of how groups can reach out to new members, and how the groups can influence policy.

Second, I reached out to some people I know who attends the 912 meetings, and directed them to this page. If they’re interested, you’ll be hearing from them.

    Keep us posted.

  29. Jason330 says:

    Cool. Thanks Jim.
