How to Make Work/Life Balance Work
This is a Ted talk by Nigel Marsh (runs about 10 minutes). He is the author of a couple of books, but this is the first time I’ve seen him. This talk is funny and very, very wise — something for all of us to think about over the weekend:
“With the smallest investments in the right places, you can radically transform the quality of your relationships and the quality of your life.”
WARNING to up and coming parents:
DO NOT abandon sit-down family meals. INSIST evening events or meetings start later….or tell the good folks you won’t be there, or are coming late. You’d be surprised how times can shift, the family gets fed (hence “checked in with”), and you didn’t sacrifice that quality crossroad time, so easily given away to a rehashed, inconsequential meeting or activity, and another Happy Meal or slice of pizza to the kids. It does make a difference–and it doesn’t cost.
