WARNING to up and coming parents:

DO NOT abandon sit-down family meals. INSIST evening events or meetings start later….or tell the good folks you won’t be there, or are coming late. You’d be surprised how times can shift, the family gets fed (hence “checked in with”), and you didn’t sacrifice that quality crossroad time, so easily given away to a rehashed, inconsequential meeting or activity, and another Happy Meal or slice of pizza to the kids. It does make a difference–and it doesn’t cost.
