International Women’s Day and Daniel Craig Wears Heels to Celebrate

Filed in International by on March 8, 2011

And good for him, too. March 8th is International Women’s Day and this year’s UN theme is: Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women. In the UK, this Day is a chance to remind residents that equality is still a work in progress — featuring the fabulous Daniel Craig and the voice of Dame Judy Dench:

He Looks Good, yes?

That’s a great spot. I’m pleasantly surprised that the James Bond franchise allowed them to do it.

  2. Auntie Dem says:

    Just WOW!

  3. Someone told me yesterday that at one of the meetings of the NCC DEM party Diversity Committee meetings, the NCC chair came into the meeting in a dress (to make a point about teh gay?). Really?

  4. Auntie Dem says:

Nope Nancy. Didn’t happen. Where does this stuff come from?

The NCC Dem Diversity Committee is chaired by a woman who is doing a great job. Natch!

  5. No, the DEM NCC party chair, a guy, came into the meeting in a dress. I forget his name. My source is unimpeachable here so I guess I’ll have to ask for photographic evidence!

  6. Auntie Dem says:

Nancy, ya better check your unimpeachable source because he/she is totally wrong. I’m one of the co-chairs of the NCC Dems Diversity Committee and this never happened. Somebody’s playing a joke.

We did have a trans-sexual, now a woman, visit us at one meeting to help us understand what that’s about. Perhaps your source is confused?

The idea of Erik taking up cross-dressing, for whatever reason, is simply bizarre. He’s much too dignified and earnest about what he does. Never happened, but thanks for the laugh.

  7. The Straight Scoop says:

Nancy, with all due respect, I’m highly offended that you’d start publicly posting rumor and innuendo and THEN ask for photographic evidence. How about I start a rumor about you and then ask for confirmation?

It’s not even rumor — it’s a flat-out lie. What’s really irritating is that many of us spent the last week venting about Mike Huckabee saying something untrue and then trying to take it back. We all know once you say something like that, you can’t unring that bell.

My point is, you shouldn’t start posting potentially embarrassing things about someone when you wouldn’t like the same thing done to you.

  8. Mark says:

    Nancy:
I believe you owe Mr. Schramm an immediate apology. In such a small political community, you really should be ashamed of yourself for making such an outrageous and offensive claim without any basis in fact.

  9. Geezer says:

Based on the accuracy of this “unimpeachable source,” I’ll bet I can guess who it is.

  10. Sometimes you just have to impeach an unimpeachable source.

My guess is, approbation aside, that Erik’s probably laughing about this, and enjoying, or at least enduring, merciless ribbing.

  11. Mongo says:

Mongo knows Nancy. Much, much salt should be taken whenever she utters a “truth”.

  12. The Straight Scoop says:

More than 12 hours and nary an apology from Nancy or at least an admission that she got her “facts” wrong.

  13. Geezer says:

With all due respect to my blogging friends, this is why old-school media demand names of sources be attached to tales like this one. I am all too familiar with the salacious twaddle one of Nancy’s sources likes to peddle. It generally played out just like this time: Half a kernel of truth turned into a silo of innuendo. Some minds are still in junior high school.

If someone needs a guy to wear a dress to a meeting, or show up clad only in sharpie graffiti – you know how to get in touch with me.

  15. Auntie Dem says:

    Nancy,

You have done so much good in the Delaware political arena and I respect all the work you put in as a watchdog and activist in our community. This makes me very sad.

The NCC Democratic Chair, Erik Schramm, is one of the most moral and ethical people I have ever encountered in politics. As I said above, he is earnest about diversity, and all the other planks in the Democratic platform. To attack him here simply makes no sense. He’s one of the good guys.

Unfortunately, it has been my experience in the activist community that there is an underlying paranoia that plays in the background all the time. The theme seems to be to trust nobody and attack whenever possible. Occasionally this trumps good judgement. This might have been one of those times for your source. I hope in the future you’ll keep this in mind. I truly hate to see you fall prey to this sort of tactic.

Sorry to be preachy but I hate to see you damage your credibility.

    Onward!

LOL Jason. You are the best!
