And Now…A Word From Our Betters
Larry Kudlow on his priorities after the Sendai earthquake:
After the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan failed to induce a market nosedive, CNBC’s Larry Kudlow expressed his relief in terms that seemed to appall even his fellow cheerleaders for capitalism: “The human toll here,” he declared, “looks to be much worse than the economic toll and we can be grateful for that.” (Skip ahead to 0:38 on the video after the jump.)
Phew! It’s only people, and they’re replacable, right Larry? Thank God the markets will be o.k. The look on the face of the blonde on Kudlow’s left is priceless.

I can’t remember the title of the book, but a few years ago a book came out which, for the sake of argument, accepted the legal premise that corporations are persons. It then examined the legal obligations of corporations (like maximizing profit for shareholders as much as possible regardless of social impacts) as personality traits. The book concluded that if corporations really were persons, then they could accurately be diagnosed as sociopaths.
I think that insight can be extended to many capitalists who ascribe to a form of capitalism that either wants a completely unregulated economy or a minimally regulated economy (as well as those who want their potential and actual competitors regulated but not themselves).
Kudlow’s comment fits the sociopathic profile.
Hey…does anyone know, has Kudlow been fired over this yet?
I crack myself up. That’s all.
No, but they got Gilbert Gottfried… #toosoon
