Democrats Seem To Be Mustering Some PR Game
Carney just tweeted:
JohnCarneyDE Rep. John Carney
by DelDems
Compromise is essential to governing. There is no reason to force a govt shutdown — esp. when our economy is recovering and creating jobs.
Since this impasse is 100% the fault of idiotic Republican zealots who want to defund Planned Parenthood, the Democrats finally have a PR battle that they can’t lose.
this impasse is not because of the Republicans, but because of a lack of leadership last year by the Democrats. Why didnt they pass the budget then? They had the House, Senate and the White house and could have passed it easily. We are almost done with this year and we are talking about pennies here.
Heck – a budget wasn’t passed because McConnell and the other teabaggers in the GOP Senate caucus fillibustered the appropriation bills.
I just love the use of name calling here. I feel like I am in 2nd grade. If I didnt like you I would call you names that I felt would offend you.
Also, maybe the R’s didnt like what was being jammed down their throat. So I just love the way the great consensus builder was able to do last year. Dont blame the R’s. The D’s were in power for many a year.
And to steal from another thread:

I wish people would stop calling the Dems spineless. They aren’t spineless at all. They didn’t get to their positions of power, the highest in the land, b/c they are pussies. They got there b/c they are masters of politics. B/c they are powerful, calculating people. To think they got there b/c they are spineless pussies is just bullshit.
Their silence on these issues speaks volumes.
sucks to be the minority party I guess doesn’t it, heck yeah….
Im good with it while it last. Im not going to jam something down your throat when we do become the majority party again. And besides most people are down the middle or slightly to one side or another. Well that is most people that I associate with. I dont like the far right nor the far left.
I just am disappointed that there isnt more complaining on the lack of jobs, the non closing of Gitmo, the keeping of Bush’s financial ‘experts’ (I wasnt happy with them while Bush had them).
But the D’s could have passed the budget last year. They jammed the Obama care package without people reading it, so why couldnt they or why didnt they jam the budget to passage? Were they afraid politically for their jobs?
And yet neither party has the balls to attack the majority of the budget- entitlements, milatary and the debt. All of which will choke this economy so fast that it will make all of our heads spin.
Easily could have passed? Hell Yes is being disingenuous at best.
Quoting H.Y. :
” the R’s didnt like what was being jammed down their throat.”
and most recent:
” Im not going to jam something down your throat” concluding with ” party has the balls”.
Lady, you need a new hobby.
Jammed it with no one reading it? Don’t blame others for your lack of ambition.
Again, disingenuous at best.
No tax increases on the folks who reaped the most over the last decade equals unseriousness in my book.
I wouldnt mind a tax increase to help us get out of debt, but only if there is also a cut in the entitlements. I dont hear anyone saying anything about that. Silence. Sure 50% percent of the people dont pay any taxes. Why are the top 10 percent pay 70% of the taxes, because they work and earn their money.
Here in NCC the real estate tax went up by 50% in the last 4 years or so. And when the real estate market starts to move again, and the revenue from the transfer taxes starts to come in, will there be a reduction in taxes? Ha, never.
So reduce the pork and I will surely pay more in taxes to get us out of this mess. Will any of you that are working be willing to pay more in taxes?
Sure tax the people that are sucessful, no problem, but what sacrafices are you willing to take?
oh by the way , I still love the name calling. You guys gave me a laugh today.
@HY “…why didnt they jam the budget to passage?”
The Dems left it as a trap for the Republicans. Let’s see if the elephant falls in on the sharpened stakes.
The Dems left it as a trap for the Republicans. Let’s see if the elephant falls in on the sharpened stakes.
This is a joke, right? It is the Democrats wriggling on the stakes, pushed by Obama.
The budget would have had to address the issue of the expiring tax cuts, which nobody wanted to touch. Dems simply didn’t have the courage to go into the election having just passed a huge deficit budget and tax increases.
And Dems didn’t have the vision or skill to pass the House tax bill and portray it as middle class tax cuts while nailing the Repubs for defending the rich.
If Dems had pushed the elephant onto the stakes last year, they might well have kept the House or come close.
RIGHT ON anon !
@anon “This is a joke, right?”
No joke. After the Dems lost, they still could have easily passed a budget in the lame duck session. They chose not to do so.
@anon “And Dems didn’t have the vision or skill to pass the House tax bill and portray it as middle class tax cuts while nailing the Repubs for defending the rich.”
Nor the ability. They first needed to skewer the elephant… thus the trap. This is how the Dems will destroy the Tea Party.
