Late Night Video — Stephen Fry Says Play with Your Words
…and stop paying so much attention to the language pedants.
This video is uses Kinetic Typography, a fun form of animating words to create its own message or emotion (it has it’s own channel on Vimeo). It takes part of a podcast that Fry did some time ago and uses those words as imagery. Cool! But so is Fry’s message (which is glorious, vintage Fry), which is that the reduction of language to an assessment to whether or not it follows the rules often misses the point of language:

As long as the listener (reader) is able to understand what is being said by the speaker (writer), then it is – by definition – language. “[T]he words, their pronunciation, and the methods of combining them used and understood by a community.” (Merriam-Webster on-line)
But then again, “the author is dead!” says the post-modernist.
