Tuesday Open Thread

Welcome to your Tuesday open thread. I’m busy. I’m counting on you to tell me what’s going on.

Mission Accomplished, Andrew Breitbart! Shirley Sherrod is going back to work at the USDA working on civil rights:

Sherrod will not take her old position, reports Politico, instead rejoining the agency to work on civil rights. In her new job, she’ll lead a program designed to improve relations with minority farmers.

Good for her! And here’s to Shirley for making Brietbart spend alot of his wingnut money on lawyers. Because her lawsuit against him continues.

How many times have we told you that Republicans and math don’t mix? The CBO says that the *Historic Spending Cuts* the repubs have been touting actually increased spending by $3B. Yes, folks, that was Three Billion.
Mission Accomplished, Teajadis!

“Total discretionary outlays in 2011 will be $3.2 billion higher as a result of the legislation, CBO estimates–an increase of $7.5 billion for defense programs, partially offset by a net reduction of $4.4 billion in other spending,” reads a just-released report from the Congressional Budget Office — Congress’ non-partisan scorekeeper. Analysts there conclude that increase is due in large part to the fact that the six month spending bill shifted defense spending to more immediate activities, which means the bills will come due sooner than later.

Prior to passage of the 2011 budget, the CBO estimated a savings of about $350M for the year. Now that the CBO has had a chance to look at the full package — including the cost of not having a budget –it turns out that we are spending more for the GOP spending cuts. A thing that only the GOP could accomplish, I’m thinking.

today’s WSJ: “Schwarzenegger Had Child With Staffer

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has acknowledged that he fathered a child with a member of his household staff, a revelation that apparently prompted wife Maria Shriver to leave.”

  2. Jason330 says:

I’m not surprised the cuts proposed by Teabag Republican increase spending. There so little actual thought behind the cuts that they have actually proposed cutting tax auditing and enforcement, which is a net revenue generator.

That is no doubt well thought out and wholly intentional.

That Schwarzenegger story is just plain creepy. Anyone when Arnold was running the first time and there were all of these stories about womanizing? He made it sound like it was teenage wild oats and women who criticized him for this behavior were called out by the conservabots for relying on gender politics.

So he really *is* a sleazeball.

In his next movie Schwarzenegger goes back in time 12 years to give himself a condom.

Word of advice: Think very hard before marrying a Republican man involved in politics. These situations are becoming the norm.

  7. anon says:

I would like to say it is mostly Republicans, and it does seem that way, but there are unfortunately plenty of Democratic examples too.

Next time Newtie rolls out his BS about *real Americans*, ask yourself how many *real Americans* have 6-figure revolving credit debt at Tiffany’s.

I agree with Duncan Black that we need to start slow walking these Newt Sucks Stories. At this rate he’ll be out of the race before the end of June.

    • I’m enjoying the high-profile flameouts. GOP saviors are being picked off one at a time. Since I’m completely out of the loop, what’s happened with Gingrich?

  10. skippertee says:

@ anon- Democrats don’t roll out their “holier than thou” attitudes to garner votes or generate controversy.
FUCK the hypocritical BLUNT-SKULLS and the animals they sodomized on the way in!

  11. jason330 says:

I like his excuse: “I love America so much, that I had to buy my mistresses $500,000 worth of jewelry.”

In 2005 and 2006, the former House speaker turned presidential candidate carried as much as $500,000 in debt to the premier jewelry company, according to financial disclosures filed with the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
