Almost Shatneresqe
Newt Gingrich has had a no good very bad horrible catastrophic disastrous launch to his presidential campaign over the past week. It by far exceeds the horrible launch our very own Joe Biden suffered in 2008 when he launched his own campaign and then went on to gaffate about a clean and articulate black man running for President that year.
After his many skewerings over his rejection and then embrace of the Paul Ryan Medicare killing budget, his spokesman released this statement earlier this week:
“The literati sent out their minions to do their bidding,” (said a Trump spokesperson). “Washington cannot tolerate threats from outsiders who might disrupt their comfortable world. The firefight started when the cowardly sensed weakness. They fired timidly at first, then the sheep not wanting to be dropped from the establishment’s cocktail party invite list unloaded their entire clip, firing without taking aim their distortions and falsehoods. Now they are left exposed by their bylines and handles. But surely they had killed him off. This is the way it always worked. A lesser person could not have survived the first few minutes of the onslaught. But out of the billowing smoke and dust of tweets and trivia emerged Gingrich, once again ready to lead those who won’t be intimated by the political elite and are ready to take on the challenges America faces.”
Such a tour de force deserves dramatic presentation. To wit, Sir John Lithgow:
Reminds me of the William Shatner presentations of Palin-speak:
Lithgow for President!
The Colbert SuperPAC needs to run this guy for the GOP nomination. At least it would be amusing.
Anyone else notice how Gingrich is always labled the *intellect* of the GOP, but this same *intellect* is always harping on how The Elite Are Keepin’ Him Down? Just once, I’d love to see Our Media just deal with some of these crazy disconnects from these people.
“Republican intellectual” has become an oxymoron.
