Horrible Tragedy in Wilmington
A child died Wednesday night after being ejected from a car during an accident at the intersection of Fourth and Lincoln streets in Wilmington. Nearby residents who rushed to the scene lifted a white Mitsubishi and found the child wedged behind the back driver’s side tire.
She would not have been ejected, and then run over or landed on by a car, if she were wearing a fucking seatbelt. I am all in favor of the death penalty for parents or guardians who drive while not buckling their children up.
Would you feel the same if it was a Cadillac leaving Buckley’s Tavern in Greenville?
And what in hell is that guy doing driving in the back seat? No wonder they had an accident, there’s no steering wheel there.
Of course I would feel the same way. What are you accusing me of? There is no socio-economic or racial aspect to this. A seat belt is a seat belt in Wilmington and Greenville. A little girl dying is the same in Greenville and Wilmington.
It is pretty disgusting that you even asked that, Skippertree.
“I am all in favor of the death penalty for parents or guardians who drive while not buckling their children up.” …..Really?????
So with Murders that are brutal and violent yoo woull have them killed twice and dragged through the streets at rush hour? …Do it at Frawley Stadium between innings??????
No, not really, JPConnorjr. But you understand the sentiment, don’t you? It’s called anger, anger that a life was needlessly lost due to the careless of others. And I want to blame those others. I want consequences to befall the negligent.
I guess you don’t.
An interesting pattern of claiming you did not mean what you said after its been posted. Are you going do introduce a Rosetta Stone App for those of us that are confuded? Just askin’
No response. That means you do not want to see any consequences to the negligent resulting from this tragedy. Hey, I bet it’s the little girl’s fault for dying.
I can be just as insufferable as you JP.
Did not explain your meaning. But you were able able to discern That I did not give a shit because I chose to stay on the issue of your inconsistancies.
My answer, proptionality, taking into account the circumstances to be evaulated by a judge with or without a jury.
I begin to think Skip’s suggession that you outrage is selectively neighborhood based has merit.
I am sorry. I thought the outrage would be universal. I guess not. A guess a girl dying in Wilmington does not bat an eye for you, Sussex boy. Two can play that game.
By the way, we have no idea, from the article, the victims’ names, ethnicity, or status. All we know is a little girl died. From the pictures, a lady who survived and is being carried away on the stretcher is white.
So I am truly perplexed by your comments and Skip’s comments. I did not think I would have to explain why I was outraged that a little girl died in a traffic accident.
Sorry for disgusting you DD.
My point is valid though.
I understand your outrage and I share it.
Idiots are idiots, but I draw the line at executing them same as I would someone of limited mental facilities.
I believe there are statutes the responsible parties can and should be charged under.
I now live in and was born and raisedin the city of Wilmington I spend 40-50% of my workday inside homeless shelters providing services. You know nothing anonumous punk. Outrage is appropriate but as in all things must be taken in context and not used in a bullshit straw man arguement. How many CHILDREN under 18 have died in Wilmingtin in 2011 of acute lead poisoning? Bet ya don’t know. The dealth of this child in a senseless accident is outraegous. Also outrageos is your prepensity to exagerate out of all proprtion. Have a nice day:)
FOLKS- PLZ
a child has died needlessly it would seem – any death like this brings out fear and outrage. this is not about us – it is about the child and the SEEMING circumstance based on the reporting so far.
I think we’re on the same page – in that IF the parent was negligent then the parent should suffer consequences –
Hyperbole is useful – I use it all the time, but can be misinterperted.
The lady on the stretcher has white skin, that is all we can really tell – ethnicity no!
driving/living in a certain neighberhood does not make one a member of that community
so, regardless of locale, skin color, age, gender, etc we can all be upset a child had died
we can be proud of a community that assisted fellow humans when it needed to
we can all be outraged if it was parental neglect
but lets all agree to share that grief differently
What point is valid?
You asked if my outrage would be the same if this happened outside Buckley’s Tavern in Greenville as opposed to Lincoln Street in Wilmington? The answer is obvious: yes. A child died.
Why would I be less outraged if this accident happened in Greenville? Because the parents are richer and whiter? Is that the basis of your question? Is that the point you are trying to make?
If it is, you can kindly go fuck yourself with a sharpened pole.
Driving from the back seat without a steering wheel.
I’ll let the sharpened pole comment slide.HAHAHA
The article says the little girl was 6 or 7. That’s old enough to take off her own seat belt without the parents noticing. It’s a tragedy, I’m not denying it. But the parents may not have noticed she was even unbuckled.
forget about it, it’s Wilmington.
Good point, Mrs. A mitigating factor, to be sure.
So the death penalty is off the table, Your Honor?
I will say that we can both agree that Horace Manoor is a flaming asswipe:)
I think it would be important to not rush to judgment when we don’t know the whole story. I know a couple of my kids at 6 or 7 would have snuck their seatbelts off in the back seat of the car.
There are a whole lot of things that have to go right before a seatbelt is the big issue. The car has to be in safe condition. It has to be operated by a driver who is trained, licensed, and insured. That’s 3 big ones. The driver must be sober. THAT is a big one.
In our state, you can only get a driver’s license under 18 by taking a state approved and administered drivers ed class. If you aren’t a public school student in good academic standing, you have to pay $400 for the privilege. How does this make sense? On the one hand, we either encourage or require vaccinations from students to get them while we have them. On the other hand, we REFUSE to teach them road and car safety but hand them a license at 18 if they pass a simple test. IF they bother to go in, because they’ve probably been driving illegally for years at that point.
I understand the JFC is considering restoring some of the money for drivers ed (for students in good standing in non-public schools, which includes parochial & homeschool) that was taken when the law changed in 2008. If you want more skilled drivers (because $400 is a chunk of change, for a lot of families) feel free to contact members of the JFC –

If you arenโt a public school student in good academic standing, you have to pay $400 for the privilege. How does this make sense?…… Here is how… If you are a lousy student you should not be driving period in all liklihod. If the kid is in a private school that is by CHOICE. We have 4000 people going to “bed” each night on the steeets of Wilmington. Services for that population have been frozen for 8 years until the JFC came up with a whopping 2% for FY12 thats an effective inccrease ov 1/4 of 1 percent per year. Until the poor get something. Little Johhnie’s mom and dad can damn well pay up:)
wow, where’s pandora when you need her to monitor comments
Horace please take your meds:)
I’ll wait for DD to walk back his comments in 3, 2, 1
Your off base in your application of the Death Penalty with this one DD.
My son 2 weeks ago, thank god was strapped in, opened the grand parents car door while it was moving. they didn’t have the child locks on and somehow he unlocked the door and opened it.
Shit happens my friend. Kids unbuckle themselves in the blink of an eye. Even after yelling at them a dozen times to keep it on.
We don’t know what happened, and sure as hell can’t ask the victim.
I’m find with rounding up Republicans, this one though….eh, try not to post when fired up ๐
I don’t blow guys without at least a first date or a 6 pack of good beer. You could be a slob or have bad taste in beer.
Hell, you could have just eaten asparagus
I step out to lunch and wam. So, um, yeah. Horace Manor is moderated. And since Horace Manor is also Skippertree, Skippertree is moderated. When I went into the bowels of Delaware Liberal to hide Horace’s comments, I noticed that he had the same email and IP address as our good friend Skip.
I will let you out of the cage in 48 hours, Skippertree. The vulgar attacks are out of line, and the sockpuppetry is against the rules. This is your final warning. In 48 hours, if you do it again, you’re gone.
Donviti…. it pains me to say this…. seering horrible pain… blinding pain really…. but ….
you….
are….
right.
I feel unclean
{snoopy dance}
the second child died ๐
We’ll have to wait until the details emerge, but I’d guess that the driver of the car with the children who died will face charges, though probably not the death penalty. If I was driving a car with 2 children and they both died, I think I’d feel like dying, no matter who was at fault.
Agree, AnotherMike.
Of course donviti is right. Asparagus **** tastes awful.
