Junk Men

This week has been Penis Week in political lanscape. First there was Anthony’s wiener which was is all the rage. It seems that Republican bloggers really want us to think on the congressman’s penis. And now, former presidential candidate (and supposed possible running mate to Obama) has been indicted for funneling campaign funds to his mistress. Just great. Do male politicians only think with their smallest head?

I think men go into politics for sex. It is show-offy. “Watch me get this room of people eating out of the palm of my hand. Watch me give this speech about family values, then have sex with a hot lobbyist.”

How else could people like Newt Gingrich ever get laid?

Some of the things that make you a successful politian are also things that make you good at picking people up (but not necessarily keeping them). An ability to display empathy (even when you don’t), making them feel special, appearance of being a good listener, being cool or smooth or passionate about something. Being good-looking doesn’t hurt. It doesn’t matter what you’re saying (clearly) it’s how you make people feel. There’s not a big difference between a donor function and a singles bar.

That coupled with the HUGE ego it takes to think you can run a country, state, etc. you’re just asking for this sort of crap.

Really hoping Weiner’s isn’t true though. And maybe he does have dirty pictures that he sends to his wife who is pretty and he loves, and they just got hacked from his computer and he’s scared to admit it.

Also, If any of you guys saw the bit on the Daily Show last night about Weiner with the soul singer, he’s native to the 302. We were friends at UD.

In answer to your tease for this post, as a young man in the Great Alaskan Bush Company, I “stained” my Calvins while getting a lap-dance.
So the answer is YES, it’s quite possible.

Eros is one of many great levellers. Without the levellers, most of us might be tempted to think that the rich, powerful, and popular really are unique and deserving of their priveleges.
