Welcome to your Tuesday open thread. I’m back, not quite at full strength yet. I’m still buried in email and for some reason still jetlagged so pardon me if I’m behind on things.
Is anyone going to Netroots Nation next week? If so, here’s your chance to ask questions directly to the White House:
President Obama’s top communications official is set to address the progressive Netroots Nation annual conference next week, another sign the White House is gearing up for the upcoming campaign and how seriously they take the online community.
Netroots Nation announced Monday that White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer will be their keynote speaker this year. The gathering of progressive activists and bloggers will hear an address from Pfeiffer which will also have question and answer session.
Pfeiffer isn’t doing a speech as I understand it, he’s doing a Q&A. It’s a great opportunity to get your voice heard. There’s still time to sign up!
I know you’re probably already tired of SarPal but this is pretty hilarious. Fox News mistakenly used a picture of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin in a graphic.
Oh boy. On Sunday, a story about Palin being “50-50″ on getting into the 2012 campaign included a graphic–featuring Tina Fey as Palin in an SNL skit from 2008. This one likely won’t go down quietly at Fox, which has had a few Palin-related screwups over the years, resulting in a strongly-worded memo to staff: cut. it. out:
Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors. Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the “mistake chain,” and those who supervise them. That may include warning letters to personnel files, suspensions, and other possible actions up to and including termination, and this will all obviously play a role in performance reviews.
Here is a video of the segment:
One good thing about Sarah Palin joining the presidential race would be the return of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on TV.
