Cathcart Has A New Job
Former Republican Representative Dick Cathcart has a new job.
On Friday, Cathcart will become city manager of Delaware City, making an annual salary of $80,000 — more than $20,000 less than he earned as DSU’s associate vice president of university operations.
Cathcart said he “wanted a new challenge” after 16 years working in facilities management, construction planning and purchasing at DSU. He said that prior to the offer from Delaware City, he had already planned to retire from the school later this year. His move has “not one bit” to do with a state auditor’s office investigation into his department awarding illegal construction contracts.
You gotta love that explanation. It’s just a coincidence that Cathcart is involved in a scandal at DSU. He just wants a new challenge making less money.
And it’s interesting that he got the job after getting $25K for Delaware City for trees or some nonsense.
Doesn’t Delaware City have enough foul odors from the refinery without this scum-bag shagging his stink there?
Another Republican’t on the public dole.
Damn Socialists.
What’s this about less money? While working in Delaware City, he can start collecting his double-dipping state pension, which should more than offset the difference between his new salary and what he made at DSU. Meanwhile, the $80K from Del City will easily surpass what he earned in the early days of his working career, so he’ll be able to build his creditable earnings for Social Security while deferring collecting any of it.
Double-damn socialist.
That’s right. Check out this ‘graf from the News-Journal:
“Cathcart said he made just over $100,000 per year at DSU, and he made more than $60,000 annually during his four years serving in House leadership positions. He will start collecting state retirement benefits after beginning his new job, he said.”
Cathcart was a bum when he was in the legislature, and he’s been a bum ever since. He thought he could get rid of John Atkins. The Millsboro area voters showed him he was wrong.
