“Wonder why many minorities have problems with GOP?”
Comedian and Obama impersonator Reggie Brown, who we last saw “debating” 2012 GOP presidential candidate Gary Johnson appeared at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) to tell a few jokes. He was escorted away after about 15 minutes but not before he got in some crowd-pleasing jokes.
Doug Heye, the RNC’s communication director in 2010 tweeted: “Wonder why many minorities have problems with GOP? Hiring Obama impersonator to tell ‘black jokes’ at SRLC, for starters.”

That comic’s picture should be in the wikipedia entry for ‘Uncle Tom’
Oh come on. The “racial” jokes were pretty tame, and he took shots at several Republicans as well. Are we now so over-sensitized that Obama will be first president who doesn’t make some impersonator famous?
I didn’t view the tape, but this: “Doug Heye, the RNC’s communication director in 2010 tweeted…”
is kinda telling.
One of the reports on this incident wrote that the impersonator was cut short and escorted off stage. I think the GOP got punked because some of the jokes were about Republicans and their perception of Obama.
If Doug Heye really wonders why the GOP has problems with minorities, they should look at their policies, not this incident.
And remember, if you remove all the vowels from Reince Priebus, you are left with RNC PR BS
If this clip is any indicator, this guy wouldn’t have made it 15 minutes at the Apollo, which goes to the problems with minorities thing. There just isn’t much funny or perceptive here, even the Bush joke.
Not. Funny. At. All.
I don’t have a prejudice bone in my body. Which is a great thing. I can laugh at everything without being a hipocrit. My favorite form of entertainment has always been impersonators. Huge Rich little fan. I have always loved good Presidential impersonators, from any party, dem, rep, ind. I actually had been wondering why we have not seen any yet on Obama. This was the first time I saw this guy, He was Hilarious. Believe me, you will start to see him again on other shows, Besides being Hilarious, he actually does a very good impression of Obama, especially with his manerisms, and facial expression. I thought it was great, Hope to see more of him.
I have a feeling this will be on the daily show.
Gotta appriciate the fox news tactic of mic cutting once the impersonator began saying things they didn’t want to hear. Much more mature when compared to the usual conservative response, which is screaming over the speaker or sticking fingers in ears while doing the “la la la, I can’t hear you” freedom haters dance.
No probs whatsoever with POTUS impersonators and Obama should not be exempt, plus he’s got some mannerisms that are ripe for skewering.
The crowd was upset that the entire bit was not all in Sambo, and that’s the issue.
Even if it were true that the GOP was worried about their minority problem, I find it freaking hilarious they are in fits trying to attack the guy and not be called racist
it’s like they are being forced to talk about the issues.
Taking away the ability to make fun of the guy is really hurting their SOP on how to attack a messenger
Can you imagine the meetings and conference calls that occur? They are so completely oblivious to what is offensive and isn’t they don’t know what to do. They tried hiring Mike Steele, but he was a freaking disaster too.
Do you think they have black consultants telling them what’s offensive and racially insensitive?
I’m sure their black consultants cannot say for sure what’s offensive to black Americans since their detector is most likely destroyed from suppressing their objectiveness during the admittance process to the club.
This also might be a reason why the GOP has trouble with minorities: stupid people saying stupid things like this:
http://www.delawarepolitics.net/obama-is-fast-and-furious/#comments
of note: “So there’s big problems with Mexico’s drug cartel, a mighty mighty force in that nothing-burger country of dishonest, pointless people not yet able to create a flourishing and vibrant country with all of its natural resources? With drug running being yet another Mexican “industry”, along with offshore oil drilling, sending people to America to send home their money, some tourist stuff and a lot of begging for American aid?”
So All Mexicans, in Mexico are stupid idiots because they are Mexican – is that kinda like saying all Sussex Countian Republicans are idiots and bigots because Pat Fish is an uneducated, racial Bigot??
HMMMMM,-Pat Fish – self-appointed international liasion?? what an clown – put your teeth back in and take another Xanax.
WHY are the Drug Cartels so powerful – because the Americans WANT the drugs – DUH
I am constantly amazed with the level of ignorance over at DP – and someone lets these duds VOTE!
I keep telling myself – there are some intelligent people in the GOP, there HAS to be!! they can’t all be this dumb!
The Sanford and Son joke at the end was great.
“There just isn’t much funny or perceptive here, even the Bush joke.”
Impersonators have a double challenge. Not only must they be good enough as mimics to get the audience to suspend disbelief, they must also write funny jokes. Reggie Brown is still working on the second part.
Geezer: for the dumbed down republicans I think Reggies jokes either went over their heads, but the jokes about the repukes they got to immediately which is why they brought out the hook…
Exactly. The shock, shock of his “racial” jokes came later. They pulled the plug in the middle of a Bachmann joke.
The crowd too to jeering and booing in a flash when he did a polygamy joke about Romney.
