God’s Candidate

This scares the crap out of me:

On this day, the Lord’s messengers arrived in the form of two Texas pastors, Tom Schlueter of Arlington and Bob Long of San Marcos, who called on Perry in the governor’s office inside the state Capitol. Schlueter and Long both oversee small congregations, but they are more than just pastors. They consider themselves modern-day apostles and prophets, blessed with the same gifts as Old Testament prophets or New Testament apostles.

The pastors told Perry of God’s grand plan for Texas. A chain of powerful prophecies had proclaimed that Texas was “The Prophet State,” anointed by God to lead the United States into revival and Godly government. And the governor would have a special role.

The day before the meeting, Schlueter had received a prophetic message from Chuck Pierce, an influential prophet from Denton, Texas. God had apparently commanded Schlueter—through Pierce—to “pray by lifting the hand of the one I show you that is in the place of civil rule.”

Gov. Perry, it seemed.

Schlueter had prayed before his congregation: “Lord Jesus I bring to you today Gov. Perry. … I am just bringing you his hand and I pray Lord that he will grasp ahold of it. For if he does you will use him mightily.”

I thought God was asking Michele Bachmann to run? Speaking of Michele Bachmann…

Slate’s Dave Weigel has reported an audio recording of Bachmann praying for the notoriously anti-gay ministry You Can Run But You Can’t Hide, run by the radical preacher Bradlee Dean. Bachmann offered the prayer in 2006 (though the recording was uploaded in 2008). In it, Bachmann predicts, “We are in the last days,” and says, “The harvest is at hand” — a Biblical allusion to the Rapture when some believe God will take saved Christians from the earth and leave the non-believers to face several years of torment and tribulation before the second coming of Christ:

BACHMANN: Lord, the day is at hand. We are in the last days. You are a Jehovah God. We know that the times are in your hands. And we give them to you…The day is at hand, Lord, when your return will come nigh. Nothing is more important than bringing sheep into the fold. Than bringing new life into the
kingdom…You have weeded that garden. The harvest is at hand.

Rumor is that today PPP Polls will publish a poll showing Michele Bachmann in front of the GOP pack, including Romney (by one point). Supposedly undeclared candidate Perry is in double digits in this poll as well. This could be good news for Romney since Bachmann and Perry are competing for the same voters. Also, according to PPP, Pawlenty is in such dismal shape in the poll (8th place), they’re dropping him from the national polling.

You’d think that God, with all his resources and know how, could pick a better tool than Rick Perry.

Here is my prediction. The people who REALLY decide who the candidate is (NOT the crazy christy Bagers) will give the nomination to Romney if they think they have a shot. Let’s face it. The bags will pull the lever for whoever the candidate is. All their astroturffy faux revolutionary fuvor will direct itself at whatever will let them vote against the black guy.
Now, if they decide they wont win this election, they will allow Bachmann (or some other inbred moron who is married to someone as gay as a glittery rainbow… BOOM) and let the Bags feel like the election was stolen by ACORN and the Black Panthers…. further giving them a political posture and flock of uninformed idiots for the next 4 years.

What makes it even more confusing is God already knows who is going to win.

Which makes me wonder: If God knows everything that is going to happen, how is it again that we have free will?

That tape of Bachmann making her end times prayer was on Olbermann last night.

I think that if you survey the field of GOP candidates, it is pretty obvious that God is clearly not paying attention to this race. On the other hand, it sounds as though the NFL lockout may be close to over, so I’d guess God has been pretty occupied paying attention to that.

“it sounds as though the NFL lockout may be close to over”

    Worst news of the day.

Obama, because God feels we still need more punishment.

  7. sussexanon says:

Obama, because we are still recovering from the Bush hangover.

  8. fightingbluehen says:

Still blaming Bush? Let me consult my Obama shrine. I’ll be back in a second…..( the Jeopardy song plays)…..and the Obama shrine says no, Clinton and anyone else who touted the “New Economy” are also to blame, as well as the people who loaned money to people who had no means of repaying that money. Wall Street was so out of hand that the people in charge thought that they could make it up to the common folk who didn’t benefit from the “bubble” by lending them money they could not afford.

  9. Jason330 says:

The above mish-mash of confusion is, at times, oddly coherent.

  10. Von Cracker says:

I see the “you can’t blame bush anymore” line everywhere these days!

Well I say you can shove that revisionism back where it came from. Like jack white once said – when you’re going to the grave, you don’t blame the hearse.

  11. Von Cracker says:

To all the bush absolvers out there: which magic formula to completely fix the economy should’ve been used in 2008/09?

If you can’t offer a plausible answer, then you cannot absolve the bush admin.

  12. fightingbluehen says:

Von Cracker, read an article written yesterday in Business Insider. The title is “Wynn CEO Goes on Epic Anti-Obama Rant On Company Conference Call” It should give you some perspective outside your cabal.

  13. liberalgeek says:

An artful dodge the FBH. I’ll see your crappy golden nugget and raise you a Warren Buffett.

Now… do you have a magic formula or not?

  14. liberalgeek says:

And let me give you BI’s own fact check of Steve Wynn’s flawed analysis:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/chart-of-the-day-gdp-minus-government-savings-2011-7

    You’re welcome.

  15. Geezer says:

I’d like to point out that Steve Wynn’s complaint boils down to, “Businesses aren’t pissing away money on Las Vegas junkets and conventions anymore.” And that Las Vegas’ net effect on American productivity is, essentially, zero. It’s a real hoot to hear him trash Obama for talking about “redistribution” of wealth when his entire business model is predicated on exactly that — the only difference, of course, being that most people who visit Las Vegas get nothing for their expenditures.

  16. Von Cracker says:

Yup, geez. Got to wonder in amazement at the sheer chutzpah of billionaires decrying class warfare and redistribution of wealth considering it’s been their modus operendi for over a century now.
