Surprise!! Mitt Romney is not a Christian

Filed in National by on October 8, 2011

Who didn’t see this coming?

An essential part of those attacks (on the President) was the idea that America is a Christian nation and needs to be led by a Christian that understands that. And that’s exactly the kind of criticisms Romney is facing. It’s not that he’s a bad guy, the detractors on stage here at VVS have said (which is more credit than Obama often got), it’s that Christians really need a Christian to lead them. And – despite its allegiance to Jesus Christ – Mormonism just doesn’t fit the bill, some here say.

“I think Mitt Romney’s a good, moral man, but I think those of us who are born-again followers of Christ should always prefer a competent Christian to a competent – to a competent non-Christian like Mitt Romney,” Dr. Robert Jeffress, the man who caused a stir Friday when he introduced and publicly endorsed Rick Perry here, told CNN.

He also called Mormonism a cult.

I tell ya, the good “values voters” on the right view the LDS church as on par with Wicca.

Jefress wasn’t the only committed anti-Mormon to take the stage at VVS. Leading up to the event, there was much hype about Bryan Fischer, the radical evangelical known for saying Mormons don’t really have the same Constitutional rights as other faiths, taking the stage right after Romney on Saturday.

He used a similar line to Jeffress, saying the founding fathers — he mentioned John Jay specifically as Jeffress has — expected a Christian to lead the nation.

They’d rather have the master of N****head than a non-Christian. You read it here first. It is going to be Perry.

Surprise: Ron Paul won the Family Values straw poll. Paul must be the flavor of the day. He is pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro all drug use etc, and still wins the straw poll. I guess anyone but the black man.

Ron Paul won the Family Values straw poll? No wonder all the headlines are talking about who came in second. But seriously folks… Paul seems to have enough ardent supporters to flood the zone whenever there is a straw poll. That is not enough supporters to win the nomination though.

  3. Von Cracker says:

mormanism is a cult, but so too is the shit this guy’s peddling.

  4. Any religion whose leaders promote the concept of ‘lyin’ for the Lord’ is a cult, IMHO:

To me, that includes both Mormonism and fundamentalist Christianity. And, when it comes to hazy recollections about child abuse, Catholicism.

Just part of the reason I’m not a ‘religion guy’. All of ’em are scams. Sorry, that’s what I believe. Guess I’m not qualified to hold office, and only scam artists are.

Which, come to think of it, explains a lot.

Born again Christians think that Catholics are a “cult,” where have you guys been? Check out the “death cookie”:

The evangelicals should like Mormons, Mormons believe Jesus spent time in America, and the evangelicals believe that the USA is an exclusively Christian nation, they should get along splendidly.

Jason, “you read it hear first, it is going to be Perry”. I really don’t know if your are serious about this Jason. There is no way you can really believe your statement is correct. You guys are all focused on the wrong issue’s. It could be compared to fiddling while Rome burns. Watch the following speech in it’s entirety,
(Don’t take someone else’s word for it, watch it yourself).

    http://americanpowerblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/mitt-romneys-foreign-policy-speech-at.html

Then watch any speech Rick Perry has ever made, and then tell me you still think it is going to be Perry.

  9. Republican David says:

Anon, Ron Paul is pro-life, pro-marriage-in fact he supports DOMA, he doesn’t believe in the war on drugs which doesn’t make him pro-drug use.

  10. Geezer says:

Rusty: You’ll be able to count the number of people voting on foreign policy in 2012 on one Diebold voting machine.

Shorter David: He’s not a religious nut, but he panders to them.

  11. Rusty dils says:

Geezer, But I think people are finally, finally, starting to understand, Economics and foreign policy are connected.
