Rush Limbaugh is right about one thing
I watched a little of the Republican debate and I hate to admit it, but Rush Limbaugh is right when he says that Gingrich could give Obama more of a race than Romney.
Romney leaves everybody flat. Newt is full of zingers and is always spoiling for a fight. Newt could win the moderates who say things like, “I don’t agree with him on much, but the guy has moxie.” or “I just like him.”
The same voters who turned out for Bush, knowing that he was an idiot, are the same voters who will turn out for Newt knowing that he is crazy. Meanwhile, Democrats who are tired of the Democrats muddied, and qualified Republican sounding elevator pitch could very well stay home.
I’d make the Obama / Gingrich race a coin flip at this point.
Newt Gingrich, beside being by far the smartest of ALL the announced candidates (including our current President) for President in 2012, stands for something none of the candidates, the print media, the broadcast media, the blog media, our current Congress, etc. can stomach, THE TRUTH, something the American people desperately need, want and deserve if we are to continue to be the strongest “light” among the nations of the Earth for our future generations.
There is obviously a lot wrong with Joel’s comment, but his passion kind of proves Rush”s point.
Newt wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him on his more than ample rump!
Personally, I think that Newt drips slim from every pore in his body. Jason, you are probably right that he will excite his base, but he will lose the political middle. I believe that Obama is better off going up against this ethically challenged elitist has-been than the Mittster has-been.
My head agrees, but my heart worries. Fox News and the RNC have been a cancer on this country. They’ve been preparing the country to accept a lousy human being for President for a while now.
“Barry Goldwater could give Johnson/Kennedy more of a race than Rockefeller.”
That was then. Democrats would be fools to underestimate the amount of money and bile that Fox News and the RNC is willing to put into this.
it’s only money that is being injected to match the trillions of dollars Acorn and Soros are going to put into the campaign. i heard from some guy somewhere that Soros gave the black panthers 4523 billion dollars to beat up old white ladies on election day. (i give 2 weeks for that to be a Fox Fact)
>Newt Gingrich, beside being by far the smartest of ALL the
>announced candidates
He’s only smarter than the ones who have any chance of winning the Teapublican primary. Ron Paul’s not dumb, I don’t think, he’s just crazy in a slightly different way than the rest. Huntsman even thinks it might be a good idea to listen to scientists once in a while, even though they may say things that go against one’s political or religious ideology. (Which means he doesn’t have a chance.)
I actually kind of suspect that Romney isn’t a complete moron either; it’s just that he seems to spend more time changing his position on issues than he does using that brain to _think_ about the issues.
Obama’s a very bright guy – smarter by far than any in the opposing field – I just wish his actual policy matched his rhetoric.
It is an interesting meme that Gingrich is “smart.” I guess it is all realtive, but his success seems more based on his ability to be psychotically detached than on smarts.
Being the smartest Republican is like being the tallest midget.
If Newt’s personal failings begin to get traction as an issue, I expect to see a Monica Lewinsky revival on FOX. I’m not sure how that will stick to Obama (eww) but FOX will somehow make it work.
Now that I think of it, it will be very interesting to see Bill Clinton campaigning against Newt.
Bill Clinton is the most Machiavellian of all modern pols. If it gave him some marginal advantage, I sure he would campaign for Newt.
If Newt is smarter than Obama, how come Obama is president and Newt’s not?
“It is an interesting meme that Gingrich is “smart.”
Republicans have established this meme the same way they establish all their phony memes: by repeating it over and over again, with the assistance of FOX.
Joe Scarborough said on his morning show “If Newt Gingrich is the smartest person in the room, LEAVE that room.”
