Gay Republican Groups Accept Second Class Citizenship & Defend Newt

Filed in National by on December 22, 2011

Two prominent gay Republican groups have defended Newt Gingrich’s decision to turn away voters who support same-sex marriage.

After the video of the interaction surfaced, the Log Cabin Republicans issued a statement defending the candidate:

Based on his stated opposition to same-sex marriage, Newt ultimately concedes that he is not likely to win this particular voter’s support. It is irresponsible and sensationalist to twist this exchange into a blanket rejection of gay votes.

So…If gays are narrowly focused on having the same kinds of rights as straight people, gay Republicans agree that they should not vote for Newt. If they want to hate on Mexicans more than they want to see loved ones in he hospital, then Newt is your man.

Christopher Barron, chief strategist for GOProud, had a similar comment:

The liberal press is at it again, attempting to mischaracterize the words of a Republican Presidential candidate. Speaker Gingrich said absolutely nothing wrong in his exchange with the gay Iowa voter. Indeed, Gingrich made it clear that gay people who care about job creation, national security and a better future for our country should support his campaign. Speaker Gingrich handled himself with class and dignity in this discussion with the gay voter and the press reports that have reported otherwise have done a real disservice to the truth.

GOProud is a dellusional group but they know how to spin and support Republicans who do not support DADT, marriage equality, etc.

GOProud called upon one of Rick Perrys advisors to resign after the DADT ad ran, outing him in the process.

  2. MJ says:

GOProud has that tranny Ann Coulter on its board. Need I say more? Nothing proud about being a rethuglican who supported those who backed discrimination against an entire community.

  3. SussexAnon says:

It also has Grover Norquist on its advisory panel.

Its all about money for them. Accusing Dems of this and that about economic issues, while not taking on its own partys’ discrimination issues.

The second question that guy asked him was how gay Americans are supposed to engage with a “President Gingrich” (BTW, I have to shower now). The reply was the same, vote for Obama. Not only doesn’t it make sense, but it basically tells gays to start making sure that the closet is cleaned out and comfortable before you go to the polls on election day.

  5. MJ says:

Andrew Bretibart was also on the board of GO(not)Proud until he resigned over the outing of Rick Perry’s closet case/self-hating advisor.

  6. Dana Garrett says:

It takes considerable self loathing to support Newt on general grounds. It borders on self mutilation to support him if you are gay.
