In one of America’s darker moments in its history was the Japanese Internment during World War II. Like Pearl Harbor this month, it took is marking a 70 year anniversary. Here is one of my favorite people, George Takei, speaking to NPR’s Robin Young on the program “Here and Now.”

70 years on, we still treat people who look different, different, especially in a time of war. Discrimination and hate crimes towards Arabs, Muslims, and people who looked like Arabs and Muslims (i.e. Indian Shikhs), still occurred after 9/11. But at least this time we didn’t emulate the Nazis by forcing them into concentration camps. I guess we can be grateful for the little things.

Now for today’s polling report:

    Hey, question.
first of all, to whom it may concern, you know im not in support of the GOP, so please dont be a child and “go there” <3
but, why DIDNT the senate add a year, or indefinite extension? i dont believe i ever heard why. The more extension the better right?

I ask this because, as pointed out on some show or another last night… in 2 months when this comes up again, the house GOP is going to say that they TRIED to get it to a year, but the lazy Democrat Senate and the evil dog walkin Obama FORCED them to do this, or raise taxes on jesus… or however they will spin it

  10. anon says:

Because Senate Republicans would have used the veto power of the filibuster.

Looking down the road 2 months, the Democrats need to start chanting “clean bill” over and over again.

  11. socialistic ben says:

so the senate republicans forced the 2 month deal, and the house republicans said it was a democrat idea….
