Hello Wisconsin

Filed in National by on January 18, 2012

Democrats in Wisconsin dropped off 1.5 tons of signatures at the state Government Accountability Board’s office today. 1.5 tons is apparently what over a million signatures weighs. Yes, nearly as many people that elected Scott Walker in 2010 have now signed on to recall him. That is an impressive feat, considering that only 600,000 signatures were required. Democrats also handed in 845,000 signatures against Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch as well as petitions against four GOP state senators including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau.

Wisconsin is a swing state that has voted blue in presidential years, and can just as easily vote red, especially when progressives and Democrats stay home. Thus, we must all thank Scott Walker for giving us a great gift. He lit the fire that led to a magnificant organizing movement that will lead to his outser, in the same year that we have a Presidential election.

The only problem is that the recall election and the general election will not be held at the same time, thus GOTV is extremely important.

Awesome. I agree with DD that another benefit to this is that it will be a cold day in hell before Democrats stay home on election day and allow teabags to sneak into office thinking that “all politicians are alike anyway…”
