Super Bowl Cartoons
As many of you know, I draw for a lot of different newspapers in the area. As a result, sometimes I’m required to draw multiple cartoons about a single event, in this case tonight’s Super Bowl.
My first cartoon appears in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer (view all my Philly sports cartoons here). Since the Eagles aren’t in the Super Bowl, I thought it would be fun to take a peek at Andy Reid’s Super Bowl party…
As a loyal and annually-disappointed Bills fan, I’m rooting for the Giants to crush Bill Beli-cheat and the New England Patriots. But in my News Journal cartoon, I tried to keep the tough choice facing Eagles fans in mind…

LOL!
I’m joining my pals who find this Superbowl matchup boring as heck and will be rooting for Madonna today.
LOL! I’m with Cass. Go Madonna!
Man, did she go! I was agog from the moment the Roman soldiers entered.
That was quite a line up of performers and show. Fun!
Why do you belittle the Giants win? The game began with a safety that has only been called once in history and the bookies all got smoked.
Good times.
I thought the half time show was spectacular, with the exception of the classless gesture by MIA. While it’s obvious that Madonna is getting along in years, her performance was outstanding. I bet most everyone (including me) missed MIA’s I.Q. statement and thus it did not mar the performance.
And by the way, the game was also spectacular, partially because my Giants won!
Like everyone in the country, I’m spastic with outrage over the finger because the news told me to be. But what about the classless gesture by the NFL picking Madonna in the first place? Bad enough that they played the game in Indianapolis, but to play it n Indianapolis circa 1989 was confabluatory.
I thought Madonna’s performance was pretty classy and much better than Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. She was entertaining and after all, it’s the Super Bowl, it’s TV, entertainment is what it’s all about.
I’m not spastic with outrage, I just think the gesture exhibited a distinct lack of class. Since my expectations of M.I.A. aren’t very high to begin with, it met my expectations.
I thought the Puppy Bowl was much more entertaining.
Tornoe – I don’t appreciate the use of my likeness and attitude (not to mention a direct quote) in that second cartoon. 🙂
