Minus an open thread, there’s a JackPAC story at Celia’s blog that shows Stoltz, among others, with mega-contributions to Markell’s re-election PAC. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. http://delawaregrapevine.com/2-12JackPAC.asp
DelDOT’s subpar performance RE: Barley Mill Plaza rezoning and the lack of traffic impact studies(TIS) will be in the spotlight now that a new Stoltz-Markell moneytrain has been exposed. The Stoltz family had already bundled around 10K to Markell’s campaign coffers the last time I checked. This JackPAC looks like an easy pile on.
I’ll have to check whether Bear’s Governor’s Square rezoning and its questionable TIS decision (one of DelDOT Secretary Bhatt’s first actions in office) apprars to have a rebound-effect from campaign funding from the developer. There’s no doubt of the greased palms of county electeds from looking at their votes and who’s funding their campaigns.
The Stoltz – Pam Scott-Paul Clarky connection is pretty obvious.
FYI- Look for goodies related to Stoltz mega-projects in Greenville under categories for the Department of Transportation / WILMAPCO under TIS / TOA in Clark’s Comprehensive Plan Update. It’s under review in a few weeks by the NCC Planning Commission.
Nancy: And you think that issue will resonate with whom? I have noted a distinct lack of sympathy for Greenville residents over the Stoltz projects. Folks in Bear and Middletown look at it as the toffs and swells of Chateau Country finally getting a taste of what runaway development feels like.
What is happening in Greenville has had a lot of trolls crooning the class war tune. The News Journal comments on the Stoltz articles were 50/50 troll/actual concerned resident.
But the reality is that the weakened UDC with accompanying weakened DelDOT oversight on traffic-related Quality of Life issues is every NCC resident’s concern. Stoltz shouldn’t be singled out in state/county campaign coffer assessments. There’s a large variety of pro-development sources.
The issue with bowing to Stoltz pressure by the recent changes in county code and state regulations ABSOLUTELY translates across the county from Yorklyn to Townsend.
If I am not selling it well enough by couching it under Stoltz-Greenville then my bad.
It’s not the way you’re selling it. It’s just that people in built-out areas, where such battles are rare, greatly outnumber those in the growth zones, where the battles are common.
Also, don’t overlook the hunger for jobs; if politicians are zombies, jobs are the brains they crave. Obviously, those jobs include road construction. If you own a bunch of backhoes and bulldozers, every failing intersection is a future contract.
A house in Quaker Hill
Correct. On West Street. This particular house was built in 1750 and is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad.
