I Forgot About The Republican Debate

Filed in National by on February 22, 2012

Just turned it on in time for a question about contraception.  The audience booed and howled.  Mitt and Newt got all self-righteous.  Then Newt asked the moderator why Barack Obama, in 2008, wasn’t asked about his support of infanticide.  Oh my!  They really have no shame.

Then… after all the how dare yous, they talked and talked and are still talking about birth control, abortion and planned parenthood.  There plan:  Everyone get married!  (Except gay people)  Santorum then said there are too many unwed mothers and that’s why he’s against contraception?

Oh, have at it.  This audience is loud and obnoxious.

I watched a little. My sense was that these candidates really believe that American voters are yearning for a leader with the darkest, most pessimistic vision to lead us to the dystopian promised land of the future.

I ran for student council in highschool. it was a total joke-run, never thought i’d win, i did it for funsies. One of the things i said was that my opponent never had publicly denied killing babies. Newt Gingrich is on the same level as an immature high schooler who doesn’t care about wining an election.

  3. Another Mike says:

    Ben, did you win?

  4. socialistic ben says:

winning is such a broad general term. It has so many definitions and interpretations. It’s really impossible to answer with a simple yes or no.
Did i get elected to student council? no.
Did the 15 votes I got force a tie and subsequent run-off between the 2 popular kids who beat me thus plunging the whole school into anarchy? 🙂

The American Spectator (ground zero of RmoneyHate by the GOP) has an awesome recap that includes this choice assessment of RMoney:

But let’s get back to the debate. Even as Romney took his mittens off and suckerpunched Santorum for earmarks Mitt himself supported — Romney remains the smarmy apple polisher who likes to narc on his misbehaving classmates — one could almost see strings attached to the reinvented Republican’s back. Romney is the semi-reformed RINO dummy of high-priced ventriloquists — a dummy whose words and robotic jerks come from the pushing and pulling of scummy strategists and pollsters who crawl along a corrupt corridor from Boston to D.C. His “Fortune 500” campaign makes me sick. Is the GOP really going to nominate this fraud?

    Oh… wow… ouch!

And there’s this from the Guardian:

“Romney heads to Michigan as GOP figures lament dismal Arizona debate”
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/feb/23/romney-michigan-republicans-arizona-debate
“Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum fail to shine, prompting Republicans to speculate about new candidate joining race”

    Ouch…

The line from the debate that sums it all up: “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

  8. Jason330 says:

Check out this awesome ad that Obama is running in Michigan as the GOP primary voters figure out which insane fraud to vote for.

  9. pandora says:

That’s a really great ad. More of this please!

    SB – senior year?

I liked the part when talking about the auto and Newt ran off the list of cars he seemed to be cheering for not one was an American model

    V, yup.
