This is why I love Barack Obama.

Yesterday, Sandra Fluke appeared on MSNBC, but just before she went on air, she got a call in the Green Room from the President of the United States.

“He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women, and what was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud, and that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So I just appreciated that very much.”

President Obama is a father of daughters, and I imagine he pictured his daughters when thinking of the savage anti-human attacks being hurled at Ms. Fluke by Rush Limbaugh and his zombie minions, which include the entire Republican Party.

This was a kind, personal move by the President, but one that also raises the stakes in this political scandal. Now that the President has thrown his support behind Ms. Fluke and all women, it begs the question, which side will the Republican candidates for President take? Do they dare offend Rush Limbaugh, or do they dare offend women? We have no answer to that question, and that we don’t speaks volumes. That there is even a hesitation among such a coward as Mitt Romney reminds me of a question asked by Craig Crawford yesterday: Did they Republican Party forget that women have the right to vote?
