The Manchester Union Leader provides us these reviews of Joe Biden’s recent stump speech:
“He’s authentic; he’s real,” said Peter Sullivan, a Manchester lawyer and Democrat who was elected to the New Hampshire House in a special election on Tuesday.
“I don’t think anyone thinks it (the election) is going to be easy. He’s got a strong sense of optimism.” And after economic recession, 9-11 and two wars, the country needs that, Sullivan said.
Biden didn’t mention gas prices, which Sullivan blamed on supply and demand. “You can’t talk about every issue at every stop,” he said.
Douglas Ley, a Jaffrey school teacher, said Republicans won’t win with their message of no.
Biden’s message “is a better message than ‘things are bad and not getting better.’ The reality is we are in a recovery right now,” Ley said.
Team Obama has to be pleased with how Biden seems to be able to create contrasts with Rmoney.
Where Rmoney is fake, Biden is real. While Republicans are pessimistic, Democrats are optimistic. While Republicans say “no” Democrats say “yes.”
All in all the news desk played the story down the middle by not covering up the fact that the speech was well received. That objectivity is a little surprising when you read the vitriolic anti-Obama/Biden bile being spilled by the paper’s editors:
….the Democrats are busy pointing out how rich Mitt Romney is.
Needing something to distract voters from the administration’s economic failures, incompetent budgeting and efforts to massively expand the federal government, Romney’s wealth might be just the ticket.
Basically New Hampshire voters liked it, and Manchester Union Leaders are a bunch of GOP douche bags blinded by ideology.
