Markell getting in campaign mode

Filed in Delaware by on March 24, 2012

The second most popular politician in Delaware just got a little more popular with his facebook fans.

Now I’m starting to feel sorry for the Republicans, and I never feel sorry for Republicans.

  1. Rockland says:

Oh boy, if Markell is the best we have then this state is in deep trouble…

  2. Geezer says:

If that’s the best line the Republicans can come up with, the Republicans of this state are in deep trouble.

Jack gave a good stump speech in Sussex tonight. Good crowd super high fat and cholesterol food;( . My new sensitivity. Bob Frederick is in to stay Mr.Staton did not seem concerned. I will reserve comment on the IC race except to say that the petty slights are obvious but not having the desired effect. It was nice to see Shirley Price and to have an opportunity (maybe) to support her for the first time since 1998. Yes it was good to chat with John Atkins in his hometown. the other Mr.Adkins was running hard in his quest to beat the Bifster. The Governor set a solid tone for the coming election with a well crafted warning against overconfidence and disunity. Finally the “Big Guy” was working the crowd for his coming return to county office. Fun night at the “Faar Hall” in Millsboro.

I cant go there – I would be tarred and feathered and my head placed on a spike to warn off all the other liberal monkeys that meddeled in the affairs of giants

glad some liberal progressives can go and not fear bodily harm

  5. JPconnorjr says:

Can you give an English translation Aoine?

  6. Who is the most popular pol?

  7. MJ says:

It’s not you, David, that’s for sure. 🙂

  8. Jason330 says:

Matt Denn is the most popular politician in Delaware.

  9. Idealist says:

“Matt Denn is the most popular politician in Delaware” according to two Delaware Liberal polls. A Farleigh Dickinson University Poll from 2010 had him with pretty low name ID, so I guess the answer to “who is the most popular pol in Delaware” depends on who you ask.

  10. mediawatch says:

A good portion of Denn’s popularity stems from the fact that many of us wish he were still insurance commissioner.
It would be hard to identify an issue on which Denn took a controversial position and then saw it through to fruition.
Keep a low profile, avoid controversy, stand up for apple pie, and guarantee yourself some popularity.

  11. Idealist says:

I agree with that. I also think Jack Markell is a household name in this state, while Matt Denn isn’t quite there yet.

  12. MJ says:

Actually, Matt is out there. He updates his blog weekly and he’s always on Facebook getting the word out about what he does. Not taking anything away from Jack, but Matt is pretty well known.

  13. Idealist says:

I happen to like Matt a lot. In fact, most Democratic activists I talk to like Matt as well. However, popularity means being well liked not by the people who follow politics closely, but by the general public. He’s certainly done a lot to get his name out there, but I don’t think he’s yes as well known as Markell, Carper, Biden, or even Coons.

Anyway, judging from today’s poll, we may need to “knight” Joe Biden the most popular politician in DE.

Here’s the poll I was referring to:

    http://publicmind.fdu.edu/de1010/

According to this poll (which is nearly 2 years old now) only 53% of Delawareans had heard of Matt Denn, while 90% had heard of Jack Markell. Interestingly, Beau is the most popular in this poll, with 61% of Delawareans having a favorable rating of him.
