Has Anyone Seen Short’s or Simpson’s Huevos?

It appears that Rep. Danny Short and Sen. Gary Simpson have misplaced their manhood. Yes, they have become eunuchs. WGMD is reporting that Short and Simpson have asked that the hearing on HB 290, which would clarify the duties of sheriffs in Delaware, be canceled tomorrow.

Rep. D. Short, lead sponsor of House Bill 290, said, “Senator Simpson and I, as prime sponsors of the bill, have received numerous inquiries about the sheriff bill over the past several days. Because there is a great deal of misinformation circulating regarding this measure, we have decided it should not be heard in committee tomorrow. I have notified the committee chairman of our intent to table the bill at tomorrow’s meeting.

Translation – “Neither Sen. Simpson nor I have any backbone, we have no balls, and we are the biggest chickenshits ever to serve in the Delaware General Assembly.”

We reported earlier today on how the sheriff’s posse was going to the County Council to protest it’s support for HB 290. Well, The Fatman and St. Bodie Girl couldn’t muster too many people, maybe 20 at most. Bodie even got down on his knees with hat in hand and begged the council to not support HB 290. Earlier in the morning, he was on Dan Gaffney’s show and threatened any Republican who supported this bill with a primary. Guess self-preservation is more important than doing what is right. Then again, tucking tail and running away from a problem is the modus operandi for Sussex rethugs.

What’s alarming about this is that mob rule appears to have won the day (but only today). The pitchfork-toting teahadis, riled up by the lies spread by The Fatman during his show and in his blog posts on WGMD, laid siege to county council and inundated Sussex GOP legislators with threats. As El Somnambulo pointed out, House Democratic leadership told the GOP that it was their responsibility to put this genie back in the bottle. They blinked. This bill is not dead, just delayed. It can pass even without the votes of Short, Lee, Briggs-King, Kenton, Wilson, et al.

But from here on out, Danny Short and Gary Simpson are no longer members of the GOP. They are now members of the Eunuch Caucus of the Delaware General Assembly. Gentlemen, grow a pair or stand aside. Your constituents deserve leadership, not girly-men who are afraid of their own shadows.
