Derbyshire Fired for Racist Rant
The National Review, the paragon of level-headed thinking and non-racist writing, has fired John Derbyshire for his racist rant, The Talk. Here’s a snippet from horrible piece:
(10a) Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
(10b) Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.
(10c) If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).
(10d) Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.
(10e) If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
(10f) Do not settle in a district or municipality run by black politicians.
(10g) Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character much more carefully than you would a white.
(10h) Do not act the Good Samaritan to blacks in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.

Derbyshire has been working his misogynistic, racist, homophobic shtick over at the NRO for all of this time because Derbyshire lets them pretend to some intellectual bona fides for all of the misogyny, racism and homophobia that is key to the modern GOP ideology. He’s fired now because he went too far — even his usual protectors can’t pretend that this is entertainment, comedy, satire or whatever other handwaving they do when they get caught out telling their truth. They are who we always thought they were.
Notice what it says in the National Review notice that they fired him: “Derb has long danced around the line on these [racist} issues…..” That is tantamount to an admission that the National Review prefers racism when it is expressed subtly. They are really no better than Derbyshire.
The “National Review” is a disgusting and vile vehicle of pseudo-journalism that is worth more as fire tinder than a conveyance of written thought.

I give it 2 months before FNC hires him as a commentator. There’s no crook or shamed individual they don’t put on there. Read: Ollie North, Dick Morris, etc. etc.

The author takes a racial slant for sure. The base of the argument is behavioral. Black, white, blue, green, whatever. Behavior is the true measure of a person.
You put a group of ill-behaved people together and bad things will happen in a mob….. Black, white, blue, green, whatever.
The pain of reality begins when statistics illustrate alarming trends regarding one group’s lack of acceptable (or legal) behavior when congregating.
It makes it hard to argue that “a few bad apples spoil the bunch”.

This country’s racial problems have *always* been largely focused on its relationship (or lack thereof) with its black citizens. Somehow I’m not surprised that I have to point this out.

this country also has a long history… as a matter of official policy of treating; Asians (railroad), Hispanics(this is OUR stolen land), Native Americans (biological genocide), the Irish (railroad), Italians, Jews (what death camps?), and our new favorite boogman, Muslims: like shit.
I think people like Rockland are afraid that because of generations of sins and horrible behavior, the White Man’s Uppens are about to come. I wish that was true. I wish the sins of your fathers cambe back 10 fold…… but sadly, I can assure all these scared little pissants that most other people aren’t as horrible and violently xenophobic as those of European decent. One only needs to look at the world history of European explorations and Imperialism to see who the scourge of the earth really is…. and it prays to jesus and has blue eyes.

I used to think that it was only a matter of educating people like Rockland about the history of racial and ethnic prejudice in the USA to enlighten them about their distorted views. I thought that pointing out that some of our founding fathers supported some of the most appalling acts of barbarity against others (like when George Washington looked away when his troops skinned alive Native Americans) or that we were the ONLY nation that required a.civil war to rid ourselves of slavery…I thought that showing bigotry is as American as apple pie would suffice to make the scales fall from their eyes and realize that we are still playing out our national loathsome history. But given how committed people like Rockland seem to be to their prejudices, I now think their racism either results from having abysmal childhood experiences or some kind of brain trauma. Both are highly correlated with idiocy.
