    Recent email from Chris Coons:

    Dear puck,

    “It was inspirational.”

That’s what we keep hearing after our “Conversations with Chris” event at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington two weeks ago.

We were thrilled to have the energetic Mayor Cory Booker from Newark, New Jersey on hand to meet many of you and join Chris kicking off the discussion.

With all the roadblocks in Washington, it was refreshing for many to hear from two leaders committed to finding and implementing bipartisan solutions to the challenges our county faces.

Hoo boy. Somebody remind Senator Coons that some Democratic candidates are in campaign mode and would appreciate some articulation of Democratic solutions instead of more of the discredited bipartisan drumbeat.

Whistleblower calls out alleged massive visa fraud for obtaining cheap illegal labor:

Palmer says at first, most came over on H-1B visas. These visas are for people with specialized talents or a level of technical ability that can’t be found among American workers.

When asked if all the people had some special expertise that couldn’t be found in the U.S., Palmer said, “Absolutely not. Not even close. Many of them is what we call freshers. People that would just come over, whoever they could get to come over. Whoever got accepted for a visa.”

Many of the people brought in, in fact, didn’t know what they were doing at all, Palmer said. “There was not a project or program that I was involved in that we did not remove somebody because they had no knowledge of what they were doing,” he said.

If these claims check out, we need to make an example of this company.

A big announcement overnight from State Representative Gerald Hocker.

During an old-fashioned covered-dish supper and Straw Poll sponsored by the 38th District Republican Committee at the Roxana Fire Hall, Hocker announced that he intends to run for the Senate seat being vacated by George Bunting who is retiring.

Hocker told the crowd that he and Bunting have worked together in various ways to represent the voters in the 38th District.

One company that does exactly the same thing is Sallie Mae, Reston Virginia. Most of the workers processing student loan applications and servicing the loans, etc. are H-1B visa workers (primarily from India) all under the guise of information technology.
