The News Journal Front Pager on Buffett Rule Pisses Me Off

Filed in National by on April 17, 2012

In addition to unethical Republicans, the President is up against a dishonest media establishment. Read today’s front pager in the NJ picked up from Bloomberg and see if you can spot what is missing. I’ll wait.

The U.S. Senate blocked the proposed Buffett rule that would set a minimum 30 percent federal tax rate for the highest earners, stopping the legislation for now while an election-year debate on tax policy and income inequality continues.

The 51-45 vote yesterday in Washington fell short of the 60 needed to advance the measure, and Republicans derided the Buffett rule as a political stunt. President Barack Obama has been campaigning for the legislation across the country, maintaining that it’s unfair that some high-income taxpayers use deductions and preferential tax treatment of investment income to pay lower rates than many middle-income wage earners do.

Did you notice any mention of the party line vote in the first five paragraphs? Did you notice how the NJ plays it as if the entire Senate is blocking the President’s bill? Did you notice any quotes from Delawares Senators? And did you notice that the first quote is from Mitch McConell eviscerating the President for “wasting time” on a political stunt?

It is frankly sickening. The News Journal has no real reason for being. It is a flat out joke.

Kind like Obama’s asinine comment that Obamacare was passed by a “strong majority”, while completely ignoring that it was a party-line vote?

Agreed! Though, Obama is an even worse “flat out JOKE”!

  4. I love the double standards. Stories about the Buffet rule say it won’t solve the deficit yet Paul Ryan’s magic plan to cut taxes and ???? is treated as serious.
