Everything is Politics: Gov’t Shutdown
Remember earlier this week when the Senate struck down the “Buffett Rule” bill and said that the Democrats and President Obama war just playing politics? Well, FYI, Republicans, it’s always politics and the Obama Administration has come up with an doozy for September – the threat of a government shutdown. The gist of what is happening is that Obama and the House Republicans agreed debt deal last year and now the House leadership, under pressure from the Tea Party, is beginning to undermine the deal that they made. Jeffrey Zents, the acting director of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget sent a letter to Capitol Hill:
Until the House of Representatives indicates that it will abide by last summer’s agreement, the President will not be able to sign any appropriations bills.
I really wish the Obama Administration would govern like they campaign — which is really, really good.
A veto threat! Better late than never.
Never mind a veto threat last summer would have averted this particular crisis. Remember how much fun we had saying Obama had Republicans over a barrel on holding out for more revenue with the debt increase, and business interests would force Republicans to give in? Good times.
“I really wish the Obama Administration would govern like they campaign…” So true. Also, Nemski is on fire.
Seriously. Nemski has been amazing.
The GOP is playing into Obama’s hands. With the the GOP trying to undo that agreement and spend much more, Obama has a winning issue. Not only is the GOP on the wrong side of what American’s want, they will be tarred as being unreliable and untrustworthy… can’t honor their agreements.
Yup, Obama’s got Republicans over a barrel again. Shhh… don’t anybody say how this movie ends; apparently some of us still don’t know.
@puck Who’s your candidate in November?
Obama of course – why do you ask?
@nemski – if Obama strikes a deal to extend the Bush tax cuts again, what is your Plan B?
1. Really? Why do I ask? Do you even read your comments? 🙂
2. Ha! Plan B, you read my other posts. It will be interesting to see what happens in the session after election day. And, no, I don’t I don’t have a Plan B.
