Romney’s Honeymoon Coming to an End
Republican strategist and Washington Post blogger Ed Rogers is not confident that Mitt Romney’s current honeymoon with the national press will continue much longer.Rogers writes:
The “news hole” for the 2012 presidential campaign is bigger than ever before, and Romney’s portion will be filled every day, regardless if he actually makes any news or not. It will be hard to have enough courtesy meetings with GOP leaders, give “major policy speeches,” and roll out fresh endorsements or campaign personnel to make enough real news to satisfy all the media. So look for campaign dramas and crises to create themselves. Little things will become big things and they will linger in the media until they are replaced by something else.
Stupid liberal media. In other Romney news, I like how hard the President is hitting back at Mitt’s outright lies.

I think the honeymoon will continue in a slightly lessor form for the rest of the election. What I am starting to notice is that even some of the media who really lean left are starting to be reasonable to Romney. And why would that be? Because they are starting to realize that it is pretty much even money that Romney will win the election, and they are going to do their job, but at the same time, they realize that if they are somewhat fair to Romney, there is a good chance of having better access if he becomes president. I also saw a good interview with former president Carter, and he still predicts an Obama victory, but did not sound very confident. When asked about Romney, he said he would be perfectly fine with Romney as President, but would still prefer a democrat. So even with the party elders such as Carter, reality of a possible new president is starting to sink in.
I now have three reasons for wanting Obama to win:
1. It’ll be good for the United States and my children
2. Romney won’t be in the White House
3. And, maybe, just maybe Rusty will shut the hell up.
Romney is now trying to make Palin seem smart by comparison. He and his advisers keep talking about Czechoslovakia (a country that has not existed for 19 years) and The Soviet Union (a country that formally dissolved on December 25, 1991).

At least Romney & his people realize the media is not going to be further help.
McCain didn’t understand this and the media threw him under the bus and then proceeded to steamroll his campaign into the ground.
nemski: a fourth reason you may want to add to your pro-Obama winning list is that blogs like this one will indeed continue, but all opposition blogs will cease to exist. If you value the First Amendment for everyone (not just liberals) you are backing the wrong guy.
