The House will be voting for the Republican version of student loan relief which will be rejected by the Senate as the GOP bill takes money from the Affordable Care Act to pay for it.Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D – Nevada) said yesterday:
I’m very disappointed with what the House is contemplating doing tomorrow. They would pay for it by stopping Americans from getting preventive healthcare. That doesn’t sound like a very good deal to me.
What it all comes down to is that the price of a higher education is just too damn high. As Representative Fred Upton (R – Michigan) said:
Most families really do rely on student loans. I went to a state school; it was $330 a semester. You could have a summer job and you could do that. Today you can’t.
