The law of unintended consequences is a cruel mistress. I wonder what transparently partisan Republican a-hole, Antonin Scalia, is going to have to say if/when the health insurance industry in America collapses and is replaced by a nationalized single payer system?

Monday Open Thread [4.2.12]

Tomorrow there are primaries in D.C., Wisconsin and Maryland. And then after that, the next primaries are on April 24, which serves as a sort of “Greater Northeast” primary. The states holding elections that day are our own first state, Delaware, as well as Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New York.

Romney is going to win Maryland and D.C., and in a few weeks he will win New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. I think that makes him still the most popular Republican in Delaware.

James Howard Kunstler: The tragedy of suburbia

Filed in National by on April 1, 2012 77 Comments

It is probably too dreary today to watch this TED TALK again, but perhaps not.

“The immersive ugliness of our everyday environment in America is entropy made visible.”

Oil company subsidies, Zimmerman, Romney, our desperate County Sheriffs and teabag zealots clawing for meaning in the brutalist wasteland of talk radio and Walmart parking lots – the thing that ties all of our modern psychopathies together is our shitty architecture.
