The Sussex County council has been told to stop opening its meetings with a prayer. Specifically, the Protestant version of that very Christian prayer, The Lord’s Prayer. It was suggested to the council that they rotate prayers each month. If I’m available that night, I’d make the drive down there just to see the council members stand for the Muslim prayer.
Another Mike: Sussex holds its meetings during the day.
I love this bit of wisdom from Sam Wilson: “I don’t know how we’re going to get around it. But we’re gonna have to find a way.”
I imagine the Christian prayers will move outside before the meetings, on the steps of the county building or something, and that if they have to rotate prayers from other faiths, Sam and Vance will just stand outside the room in a snit until they’re over.
I have no objection to the prayers being held outside as long as the public meeting that is held inside is conducted without prayer.
I am glad that the court had the wisdom to not buy into that Christian Lord’s Prayer crap, since as a Catholic, my Lord’s Prayer is different. And I am pretty sure Catholicism is a Christian religion.

How long until this ruling is appealed?
