Alternative title: Wow, this Jonathan Moseley guy really sounds like a creepy obsessive stalking guy…. but that is if I only believe Christine O’Donnell’s side of the story and what the hell I am doing believing Christine O’Donnell’s side of the story?
Instead of being out on the stump this campaign season, Christine O’Donnell was on the witness stand Tuesday in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas dealing with the ghosts of past campaigns.
Former aide Jonathon Moseley claims O’Donnell owes him about $20,000 for his work and expenses related to campaigns in 2008 and 2010. O’Donnell, meanwhile, is seeking a ruling from the court that makes clear that all her debts to Moseley have been paid. […]
[In Court,] former O’Donnell campaign manager Matt Moran accused Moseley of breaking “a sacred trust” by his actions. O’Donnell and her attorney Richard Abbott said Moseley was “obsessed” with the candidate. Outside court, O’Donnell said during talks to try to resolve Moseley’s financial claims, he refused to settle and told O’Donnell’s sister, “If I sue her, she’s forced to think about me and at least I’m then in her life.”
Moseley, also outside court, responded that he found the charges that he was obsessed “really sad,” betraying a “kind of a high school mentality.”
You see, I knew better than to believe O’Donnell. Moseley is right, Christine reeks of the high school mentality. And I am now convinced she did owe him money, otherwise why try to settle Christine? I mean, yes, I understand you settle cases just to avoid the hassle of a court appearance, but since you always act indignant and self righteous, and you are acting indignant and self righteous now, and since you were the first to go to court to demand that Moseley was entitled to nothing, I assumed that in fact you did not owe Moseley anything.
But now I think you were just acting with false bravado to scare Moseley off. You were trying to settle because in fact you do owe Moseley something as he did do work for you. And when that didn’t work for whatever reason, you tried to scare him off by going to court first. It all makes sense.
But enough about the insane machinations going on inside O’Donnell’s and Moseley’s heads. Well, not yet.
On the stand Tuesday, O’Donnell said Moseley began demanding money and threatening to “make stuff up” and sell it to the National Enquirer after he was fired in mid-2011. The civil trial involved only three witnesses – Moseley, O’Donnell and Moran. It was expected to last only one day, but instead took two full days, with Moseley’s testimony and cross-examination dominating nearly all of Monday.
Moseley acted as his own attorney and his testimony was more of a monologue as he offered an often-rambling account of the work he had done for O’Donnell and his relationship with the campaign. This was followed by an often-contentious cross-examination by Abbott and had the unusual sight of Moseley – acting as both witness and attorney – objecting to questions he was asked while he was on the stand.
Tuesday was dominated by O’Donnell’s testimony and sometimes-testy exchanges with Moseley during cross-examination.
I would have paid $20,000 to see that. That is something Law & Order should make an episode out of, if it was still on the air and somehow a murder was involved, perhaps involving Jason330 or Mike Matthews somehow. Now that would be good television.
Oh yeah, as for the real point of this story:
As for seeking office again, O’Donnell said, “If I do, it won’t be until 2014.”
Oh, you will run again Christine. Politics is the only place where a high school mentality gets you places.
