Oh. Dear. God.

It’s like a bad imitation of a Lon Gisland accent, like Mike Myers / Coffee Talk on Saturday Night Live.

The fireworks are a reminder of the musket fire from the Revolutionary War? Where did she dig up that bit of history?

  2. xstryker says:

Her lawn signs should say “R to the Izzo, G O Pizzay”

    LOL

It is a common statement in magazines, MJ. It goes back to the first anniversary. http://askville.amazon.com/light-fireworks-4th-July/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=55022198 Some have different answers, but in the case of symbolism, it means what it means to a significant group of people. It can have more than one meaning without invalidating others. If it reminds people of the musket and cannon fire, it does. That is not even arguable.

This blog should be better than an imitation of Mean Girls Gone Cyber. Attacking people for their weight, accent, the county they live in, their religion, or whatever other meaningless characteristic is pathetic. You guys are smart, though misguided, and can do better.

That is pretty rich — coming from someone who will try to validate an iffy thing a candidate your support says with a statement from Amazon’s Askville. You already know that you need to confine this project of alternate history of yours to your own blog, where no one will know the difference.

If you are in the mood to lecture someone for bad behavior, you can start with your own house.

    @R David,

And you don’t find that insightful that a celebratory event/display reminds some of violent altercation and war?

“The day will be most memorable in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

Written by John Adams on July 3, 1776 to his wife after the decision to proclaim independence

Musket and cannon fire indeed. That’s what’s wrong with today’s conservatives who have twisted tradition, the Constitution, American principles, Christianity, and everything else into some deranged unrecognizeable monstrosity that is unAmerican and completely at odds with who we are as a people and a nation. Neither you or Izzo get to redefine our American traditions. They don’t belong to you or her. They belong to all of us. And if fireworks remind her of warfare, then that is a key indicator of her attitudes, character, and fitness.

We bandy about terms like RWNJ, whackos, other derogatory terms seeking to make fun of and humiliate those who share these beliefs that belong in Twilight Zone. Well, I for one, believe these folks are dangerous and while you find the need to defend them because they are conservative/Republican, you cannot help but be tainted by their extreme ideas and notions that if were reflective of the real America, would cause our founding fathers (and mothers) to turn over in their graves.

Fireworks are a grand spectacle enjoyed around the world for centuries by many cultures. Each person can impose their own meaning if they wish, but that is not really necessary.

Children who have never known war still enjoy fireworks. I know I don’t think of war when I watch fireworks. Explosions are just cool.

  8. jason330 says:

It is always the conservative that never served that have the biggest boners for war. R to the Pizzo and David are no different.

  9. Andy says:

Weren’t fireworks invented in China centuries ago and aren’t they used for celebrations such as the “new year” and other holidays

R to the Izzo, G O Pizzay. That’s epic. I’m going to suggest that to her.
