Chick-fil-a learns that you can’t have everything

Filed in National by on July 27, 2012 76 Comments

Chick-fil-a would like to be a big national brand and make billions of dollars. It would also like to openly discriminate against homosexuals and use its profits to fund anti-gay initiatives.

Well, you can’t have everything. Sometimes you have to pick, and the stress of being forced to pick apparently killed the company’s head PR man.

Local Music Scene Report 7/27

Sorry this blog is so ridiculously late this week. I’ve been in NYC for my day job and, well, needless to say I haven’t really had a lot of time to sit in front of a computer screen doing personal things. Nonetheless, here we are again. Thank you to everyone who came out to last week’s Ladybug Festival! It was a huge success and we are definitely doing it again. Also, lest you thought I was joking about being the redhead losing her mind at the front of the crowd for OK Go’s set at Firefly last week, take a look at this photo from the Firefly Facebook Page.

Mitt Romney deliberately got booed by UK to appeal to Teabags

Filed in National by on July 27, 2012 5 Comments

(iAP) The Romney campaign has admitted that they deliberately got the Republican presidential candidate booed by the United Kingdom to attract the votes of conservatives. Romney was booed continuously on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the campaign is calling its “double reverse charm offensive” which was launched at the NAACP convention in Houston last month.

“We put the emphasis on offensive,” a source close to the campaign stated. “The more snobby British people and blacks appear to not like Romney the more popular he becomes to our base.” Adding, “We hope Romney goes into November as the most hated candidate of the modern era.”

Mitt Romney Goes to London to Get His Ugly American On

Filed in National by on July 26, 2012 17 Comments

It is an unfortunate stereotype, but why in heck would you — a Presidential hopeful– travel to a host country (hoping for lots of positive photo ops, hoping to look statesmanlike), then launch into a criticism of their signature event? That event being the Olympics and supposedly the source of Romney’s hoped for photo ops. This is also a country currently under Conservative control (they might be your allies, dude) and one where you have just told the world that the current President doesn’t treat as a special partner. But Romney goes to London and tells NBC news:

There is no sedan chair big enough to carry Christine’s fat ass to the White House.

AP:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he’s open to running for president in four years if the job is open.

The first-term Republican says he hopes fellow Republican Mitt Romney beats President Barack Obama in November and seeks re-election in 2016. But if the presidency is open, Christie says he’ll “certainly think about it.
