This clip is from October last year (2011) from a CNBC program where Ryan is spinning up the usual talking points about lowering taxes, how there is no budget, and the business “uncertainty” canard. Governor Markell appears at the 4:30 mark to push back some on what business leaders tell him:
It strikes me after looking at this that more people who the kind of business experience that Markell has needs to be out front whacking back at this foolishness. Taxes, the Congressional budget (even though they do manage Appropriations bills), business “uncertainty” needs the kind of counter that Gov. Markell started with — that business leaders tell folks that they thing they need the most is a trained workforce and demand. And the BS about consolidating a bunch of educational programs from Ryan does nothing to contribute to better education — it just helps his budget cut back on education. Ryan is good at spinning up the talking points — but he isn’t providing much depth beyond that, which is typically the case for wingnuts. He is more articulate than most, which apparently is where this “intellectual” claim comes from. Which, if you think about the current GOP, smacks of the soft bigotry of low expectations, yes?
