So there have been two days of chatter on Rmoney-Ryan (I saw a cartoon over the weekend that transformed the Romney logo into the Rolls Royce logo for Romney-Ryan, wish I could find that again a couple of choices are below, thanks to Tom Hawk and jpconnor!), what do you hear?
USA Today and Gallup conducted a poll asking about the Ryan pick and the results are unimpressive:
Ryan, a Wisconsin congressman, is seen as only a “fair” or “poor” choice by 42% of Americans vs. 39% who think he is an “excellent” or “pretty good” vice presidential choice.
Only Dan Quayle fared worse in a 1988 Harris poll.
Politico (shudder) tells us that the VP choice Team Obama was most nervous about was Tim Pawlenty. Apparently Pawlenty didn’t have anything in his background that it would be easy to define him with.
Geezer points us to a review of an e-book by a local aspirant to the Wingnut Welfare Train. Colin Flaherty shows up on WDEL periodically and seems to have been hawking this fear and loathing over RACE RIOTS where African Americans are violently victimizing white people for fun or something. Is there anyone here who can’t hear this dogwhistle? Anyway, the review is a righteous smackdown — pointing out that (like most wingnut pamphleteering) this document relies on trying to make the fears of a minority of folks into a massive social ill by making up statistics, embellishing details and just making stuff up wholesale. Too bad he won’t turn all of that analytical power into a definitive assessment of the failure of the GOP in his own state. Oh, wait.
So what interests you today?
