Tuesday Open Thread [8.28.12]
Here are some more internal results from the ABC/Washington Post Poll that are quite pleasing, even though they had the top line presidential numbers even:
By a margin of 58% to 32%, Americans believe Mitt Romney will do more to favor the Wealthy instead of the Middle Class.
By a margin of 62% to 23%, Americans believe President Obama does more and will do more to favore the Middle Class instead of the Wealthy.
By a margin of 61% to 27%, Americans like President Obama personally and think he is a friendly person.
The Economist, a bastion of liberal thought (/sarcasm), doesn’t seem to like Mittens:
Mr Romney may calculate that it is best to keep quiet: the faltering economy will drive voters towards him. It is more likely, however, that his evasiveness will erode his main competitive advantage. A businessman without a credible plan to fix a problem stops being a credible businessman. So does a businessman who tells you one thing at breakfast and the opposite at supper. Indeed, all this underlines the main doubt: nobody knows who this strange man really is. It is half a decade since he ran something. Why won’t he talk about his business career openly? Why has he been so reluctant to disclose his tax returns? How can a leader change tack so often? Where does he really want to take the world’s most powerful country?
Meanwhile, one of the right wing conservative terrorists who planned to commit treason, attack the United States, and assassinate President Obama was four years ago a Republican page at the RNC in Minnesota, no doubt fawning over Sarah Palin:
Isaac Aguigui, the Army private and alleged ringleader of a plot to assassinate Barack Obama and “take over” Ft. Stewart in Georgia, apparently served as a page at the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minn. That’s his mug shot after he was arrested for the alleged murder of Pvt. Michael Roark on the left. At right is a 2008 Reuters photo with the caption: “Republican National Convention page Isaac Aguigui watches from the edge of the floor at the start of the first session of the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota September 1, 2008.”
Finally, it appears that former Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter (R then D) is “fighting for his life,” after being diagnosed with an agressive new form of cancer. Specter is one of those politicians that I hated, and then I loved, that I loved to hate and hated to love. Let’s hope this third battle with cancer is not the last.
Permanent rat bastard Donald Trump sends out a tweet re: Arianna Huffington: “is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man- he made a good decision.”
Some moron here at the beach has his campaign signs printed in cursive. Since I can’t read his or her name, I’m not sure who to ridicule.
That’s Andy Staton. It copies his real estate firm logo: http://www.andytoday.com/
I just heard a rumor Dennis P. Williams left the police force on disability for a broken finger and that he’s been collecting disability while a state legislator. First, I’m wondering if this is true, and second, I wonder if that broken finger will impede on his ability to be mayor?
Hey Cass? Hey ES? Cat got your tongues? Don’t wanna talk finance reports so much any more. After all your nit picking I thought you would LOVE to talk about your boy’s report. Let’s go to the calculator. Crane accepts 14 contributions from a series of New York entities at the same address (the ones you assured us were are on the up and up, ES) There were a total of 14, 8 at $1,500 each and 6 at $1,200. The 8 were illegal on their face and that made for a quick $2,400 rebate which appears on the report. But then comes the examination and 13 of the $1,200 contributions are returned. for those following along thats $18,000 RETURNED and only $1,200 Retained. This guy is a great legal talent? Not so much. A stellar administrator, well no. Ahhh and the icing n the cake there are penalties now in the law just in time:) while yet to be determined If they exceed $1.200 then its a net LOSS. This guy is a joke. He wouldn’t be able to go back to PA and hear traffic case. Enjoy your evenings.
Cass, you can ignore it but it won’t go away . Your boy is a bumbling idiot. Even Starkly stupid Starkey will have to report this now that it’s been handed to him. Where will he get the money for his fabricated ads? Does it itch when you have your head in the sand???
Haha JP, I guess we can expect a ton of negativity from the KWS camp now that you’ve realized she’s not winning.
Your right 18 k in bad contributions is going negative. He did it he gets to own it seeya on the 12th, [Ed.];)
The sweet smell of desperation.
People getting ready to lose a payday do get a bit desperate, Idealist. The pity of it is that he couldn’t work his way into the big-time pay for play that has been the signature of this office.
Press release will read:
“$18k in contributions returned upon completion of internal investigation.”
Still waitin’ to hear why KWS should be returned to office to continue her awesomeness of my rates increasing 19-23% a year and not coming out in favor of barring credit reports for policy pricing. And if she is in favor of such legislation, she was not effective communicating that to me when I asked her in person.
Meanwhile, Yesterday I received a push poll for Crane (I assume as he was listed first of Dem Candidates for IC) asking who I was supporting in the primary. And tonight I had a caller asking for my vote for Crane on Sept. 11th.
If KWS has a super secret plan to carpet bomb Delaware with cotton candy goodness that is her term as IC, I anxiously await the drop.
It must have been a super secret internal investigation his flacks said they were perfectly ok. I read documents that said it was a result of a complaint filed. We will give you a day to reflect and look you up on the 13th.
JP is really earning his pay tonight!
Hey Cass keep flogging that LESS than $200 a month over 2 years I received, the sum total is LESS than one third of what your stumblebum RETURNED. If the shoe were on the other foot you would be screaming for the US Attorney and The FBI. Your boy is an idiot, embrace it. 😉
You need to work out your issues on your badly negotiated deal with your employer, who saw fit to pay her other friends ALOT of money. Given the amount of money available, you’re the boy who looks like an idiot. Given that others got upwards of $15K/month — that’s alot of money to leave on the table.
No issues I have 2 regular gigs you know I hang out with thosevother people you hate. I help out as a casual part time thing because she is my friend a concept which may be foreign to you. Bottom line your boy has stepped in the brown smelly stuff and it will take at least until the 12th to wash off. Tick tock
Seeing Cassandra support Mitch Crane on Sunday (Richard Korn’s hour) was a hoot. His was at his most ridiculous and odious when claiming that the entire IC consumer affairs staff performance ‘crumbled’ in the absence of his superior oversight. A room full of ego with spittle of hate.
JP’s upset he wasn’t asked to run Karen’s captive bureau.
The guy she did get to run it makes 6 figures…. Oh and he lives in Illinois.
Yea and it’s in the black doofus. Even starkly stupid Starkey will be asking the question, why would one guy from NY be funneling 20k to an obscure state race in Delaware? Oh I know, goodness of his heart;)
I love how your numbers keep changing. First $8,000 then $18,000. Now it’s $20k.
If you’re gonna push a lie, at least keep the lie consistent.
Oh Cass if your boy did such a great job why does he not release his person ell records? Just asking?
Read the numbers idiot, 8 x 1,500 = 12,000 6 x 1,200 = 7200
The total amount proffered was 19,200 I rounded up by 800 in my funneling comment f’n sue me jello brains, of that 19,200 18,000 was returned which was exactly what I said in my first post. Mitch is the accomplished liar here:)

And the wait continues……….
Joe C. misses a salient point in his role as a paid campaign staffer for KWS: The donations were returned.
Anyone can write a campaign a check, or series of checks, and it all has to be reported. If David Duke wrote Barack Obama a check, it would show up on the Obama finance report. If that were the standard for scandal, campaigns would be finding “bad people” to write checks to their opponents. Earl Bradley could be petsuaded to send a donation to Beau Biden, for example.
Unfortunately for Joe, that’s not the whole story. What matters is not whether a donation is reported – all have to be reported above a certain threshold, remember – but whether it is kept. If Beau were to hold on to a hypothetical Bradley donation, for example, that would reveal poor judgment and a problem in the management of his campaign. If he were to return the bad donation – as Crane did – that shows intelligence, good management and a desire to follow the law.
A campaign should not be penalized because a donor wrote an illegal check. Under the law, that has to be reported. It should return the illegal amount and report that – as Crane did.
(Joe would seem to want us to think a candidate should have just torn up the check, or that a candidate controls what checks arrive in the mail. If that is the standard to be applied, a Crane supporter could send an illegally large donation to the KWS campaign, and Crane’s people would be justified calling her out for that. See how stupid it sounds?)
As usual, this paid KWS campaign staffer is wrong.
Only the overages beyond 1200 were returned more or less when received and even that money was deposited. the remaining 15,600 was held and not returned until after a complaint was filed. So that “desire” you suggest was not that great now was it?
Who filed the complaint, and when was it filed?
Well perhaps we get the hint as to why JP couldn’t negotiate a better deal — he isn’t even much good at spinning up a good story like a paid shill ought to.
Seems like that point in the campaign where the KWS camp says “shit, we’re losing” then throws as much crap against the wall as they can, hoping something will stick.
Go to Delaware Way SW
Keep flogging babe, you can say whatever you want about me to deflect but the facts won’t change, have a nice day:)
You have a nice day too and don’t spend all of your hard earned pay to play foolishness in one place, you hear?
Actually, Joe, the emails Nancy posted do not say what you said. There is no indication the donations were only returned after the complaint was made. There is no indication at all, in fact, when the donations were returned.
You asked about a complaint. The answer is there. I am sure the Crane campaign has crafted an explanation, wonder what it says?
Thanks Hon, and good luck at the spin Doctor with Mitch, I hear severe dislocation of credibility is quite painful.
Joe,
You said earlier the returns were the result of a complaint. You appear to have no proof to back that up.
Then you have reading difficulties. have a wonderful day

They have responded that the Committee have not been able to determine the own-ship of the companies and are returning all funds except for Columbus Realty.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We rely on citizens like you to be on alert to keep Delaware elections fair.
Nothing in that email says they were returned as a result of the complaint. Read it yourself.
Ok, the 30 day report went in on 8/12. El Stupido came here days thereafter and said he “found” from the candidate the money was “fine” the complaint was filed 8/17. it is pretty clear that the money was returned as a result of the complaint. You have 2 sources to attempt to contradict that, Mr. Baldwin or Crane, have at it.
And yet Karen Weldin Stewart is no more competent or public-minded today than she was when those checks were cut or when they were returned.
How many votes do you think will change because of this? I’m going with fewer than 10.
