The GOP’s post-objective-truth politics is not good TV
Gordon Ramsay’s “MasterChef,” and NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” bested the RNC in ratings.
Following a “MasterChef” repeat at 8 p.m., a new episode of the show at 9 drew the night’s top numbers in the demo, climbing 17 percent from last week for a 2.8/8 and attracting 6.5 million total viewers.
NBC came in second in ratings and first with total viewers with a 2.0/6 in the demo and 8.2 million. “America’s Got Talent” at 8 drew a 2.4/7 in the demo and 9.5 million total viewers, which made it the night’s most-watched program.
So Paul Ryan lied his ass off, but never mind. Americans decided to watch a prickly English chef and some variety acts.
I knew Paul Ryan was going to lie his ass off and decided not to waste my time watching it. I figured it would drive up my blood pressure
I’m with you, Andy. This is the first time – in years – I didn’t tune in… since I already knew what was going to be said.
I’ll probably go back to watching the Republican convention when they come out with disposable TV sets.
Here is one of the reasons
When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.
MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.
Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech.
And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too.
Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.
If you really want to see the convention, you have to watch PBS
Here’s a fun experiment to see just how wingnut talking points spread so that people like our pal Rusty here can just cut and paste their bullshit.
So, go to Google. Type in “msnbc cut away from ted cruz” (without the quotes), then press enter.
Come back and tell us what you see.
Yesterday at around 9:00 am <a href="http://redalertpolitics.com/2012/08/28/msnbc-cuts-every-speech-made-by-a-minority-from-rnc-speech-coverage/" Redalertpolitics.com wrote the source material.
Old Dils version is pretty much intact.
Bingo! Jason wins a martini of his choice.
And does anyone think that Redalertpolitics is watching MSNBC? With no video of the cutaways they are grousing about?
If they cut away from Ted Cruz, it helped the Republicans. I would love to see all the tea party wackos speak as much as they want.
Hubris, theft and greed. Nice Presidential qualities huh? This just in…. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-federal-bailout-that-saved-mitt-romney-20120829
