Don’t call them “undecideds.” Call them “don’t cares”

Filed in National by on September 7, 2012

I’d like to see all pollsters change their wording. It would be much more honest to call “undecideds” something like, “don’t cares” or even “the clueless”. Then, when Democrats stop fretting over a bunch of dumb fuck “centrists” the country will be better off. Duncan Black, as usual, gets it:

I didn’t quite catch who it was, but it was refreshing to hear someone NPR point out that “undecided voters” don’t know or care much about politics. I feel like our entire campaign coverage is directed at mythical people who spend months with furrowed brows studying every little bit of trivia about the campaigns before finally making their decisions. Most of them are stupid about politics and are barely interested.

The “dumb fuck centrists” are what keep this country from gravitating too far to the left or too far to the right. And I’m proud to be one of them.

  2. pandora says:

Are you truly undecided about this election, Walt? Because that’s who Jason’s referring to.

Well then you’re not doing your job, because we are too damn far to the right.

  4. jason330 says:

Yeah. Yeoman centrist work you are accomplishing Walt.

Pandora’s question hits the nail o the head. If you are still undecided, you are not moderate or centrist. You are brain dead.

Nothin’ in the middle of the road but yellow lines and dead armadillos.

  6. Liberal Elite says:

This election will be all about turnout.

Can the Dems get their apathetic larger base fired up enough to actually go out and vote?
Will the tea party folks brave to the polls and vote for Romney while holding their noses?

  7. Grunt says:

I am still hoping at least one guy in the mayor race will put a doable plan out there.

    Hoping for something, anything, worthwhile.

  8. Levi says:

So let me get this straight, if you are on the right, you don’t care and you’re an idiot?  If you are in the middle, undecided, moderate or whatever, you are a cluess idiot, or you don’t care?  Is that right?  So only those to the far left, like yourself, care and have a clue?  Is that right?

Wrong. I hold “the middle, undecided, moderate or whatever” in much more contempt than I hold Republicans. Republicans are simply the victims of bad parenting. They get that we live in a democracy but are mostly weak minded dupes.

People who say “they all do it” and “there is no difference between the parties” and “it doesn’t matter” are simply idiots.
