  1. Dominique says:

And still no official statement from the White House…

  2. nemski says:

    And . . . cue stupidity.

  3. geezer says:

At this point, Dominique, it’s pretty clear that your attitude about Obama is more about you than Obama. You should get some professional help.

  4. liberalgeek says:

    Poor blind Dom…

  5. Delaware Dem says:

Dominique caught lying again. What a horrible person she is.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

She and Romney deserve each other. Both trying to outrageously politicize the death of our dedicated and brave foreign service professionals. How dare they!

  7. SussexWatcher says:

    *they

  8. Delaware Dem says:

    D’oh. Thanks SW. Need coffee.

  9. Jason330 says:

Romney’s big lie here and the headlong rush to politicize this based on that big lie is unprecedented.

I certainly haven’t seen the likes of it in my lifetime.

  10. pandora says:

    And Reince Preibus tweets:

Obama sympathizes with attackers in Egypt. Sad and pathetic.

  11. Delaware Dem says:

This from the Maddow blog, which gives the accurate timeline of events unlike liars such as Dominque, Mitt Romney and Reince Preibus:

Detailed information is still coming together this morning, but it appears that four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in Libya by violent protesters. Responding to an obscure anti-Islam video posted to YouTube by some random bigot, and promoted by an obscure Florida pastor, protestors attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.

The Romney campaign, which dismissed foreign policy as a “distraction” yesterday, now hopes to exploit the violence to advance Mitt Romney’s political ambitions.

Before violence erupted at the American consulate, the U.S. embassy condemned the fringe YouTube video. Romney, in an official statement, said “the Obama administration’s first response” to the violence was to “sympathize with those who waged the attacks” on our consulate. That’s not what happened.

I genuinely want to know what kind of person sees a foreign attack on Americans — an attack that has reportedly led to four U.S. deaths — and thinks it’s acceptable to lie about the violence to gain a few points in the polls. The campaign isn’t going Romney’s way right now, but is that an excuse to exploit the death Americans with cheap rhetoric?

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus added that the president “sympathizes” with those who killed Americans, which he called “sad and pathetic.” Priebus’ propensity for being disgusting has apparently reached new depths.

President Obama issued a statement this morning, “strongly” condemning “the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued her own condemnation of the attack overnight, “in the strongest terms.”

At this point it is accurate to say anyone who supports Mitt Romney thinks it is ok to lie for any purpose at any time and you can even lie about American deaths, while their bodies are still warm, to suit your political purposes, is a ….. well… words cannot express or describe how evil people like Dominique and Mitt Romney are.

  12. Jason330 says:

This is such an open and shut case of lying assholery. That Preibus would enshrine it as GOP policy is appalling.

  13. V says:

While the Dom thing is enraging, back to the matter at hand. I cannot believe we’re at the point that people are DYING because some asshole posted a video on youtube.

also I can’t believe some people think that trashing someone’s religion (when it’s provoked violence in the past) is a smart idea. He’s got his free speech rights, but I hope he’s satisfied that 4 people are dead because he felt like being a jerk.

  14. Jason330 says:

Satisfied? I sure he feels like his point, what ever it is, has been proven.

  15. pandora says:

Mitt Romney and his team are not ready for the office of President:

Rich Williamson, a top foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney, blamed President Obama’s policies in the Middle East for the violence that broke out in Egypt and Libya Tuesday in an interview with Foreign Policy late Tuesday. The interview came before reports that Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, had been killed in the attacks.

“It’s all part of a broader scheme of the president’s failure to be an effective leader for U.S. interests in the Middle East,” Williamson said.

Shooting off their mouths before they have the facts. Great foreign policy skills.

  16. puck says:

Romney needs to be fried in the press and the debates for his statement: “It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

Was there a terrorist fist bump I missed?

Romney needs to be asked at every turn where he finds this sympathy, until he turns into a stuttering mess trying to come up with an answer.

Romney is reportedly referring to the PRE-attack embassy statement about the film, which was the embassy’s attempt to soothe the feelings of its host nation – which is what diplomats are supposed to do. I do think the statement could have done a little more to defend and explain American free speech rights, but that doesn’t excuse Romney’s disgusting attacks.

  17. V says:

Jason, I just don’t get how they think this will be helpful to the people of Israel.

the attackers are assholes, the “filmaker” is an asshole, and the people that funded it are assholes.

    Everyone loses here.

  18. pandora says:

Romney stuttering through an actual press conference – He’s doubling down on his attacks from last night. The Press is asking him about jumping the gun. He refuses to answer.

  19. Delaware Dem says:

The press knows he fucked this up and is lying. The press will not be his friend on this. If you have lost Chuck Todd…

  20. Geezer says:

Yeah, I count exactly two Guy Fawkes masks out of about 100 people in that photo. Think somebody at that link site might have an agenda?

  21. V says:

Gawker (and other outlets) are doing some great reporting on the fallout.

Some reports say the rocket attack was planned and they used the protest for cover.

Actors have come forward to say they had no idea that they were participating in an anti-islamic film (all of the heinous parts seem to be dubbed in)

the Sam Bacile guy responsible seems to not exist. it’s definitely a pseudonym, he’s probably not Israeli, no body seems to know what the real deal is.
