The First Presidential Debate Open Thread
Here we go! Hope you can join us… with the beverage of your choice! Use this thread before, during and after tonight’s debate.
(Sorry, no live blog tonight – technical difficulties.)
More Delaware GOP Disarray!
The NJ reports that the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor is teaming up with Alex Pires to campaign at an event on Saturday in Newark. Go read that again. The local GOP candidate for Lt. Governor (R-She Didn’t Build That) is NOT campaigning with her party’s nominee for the Senate ( wingnut wannabe Kevin Wade), but with the Independent candidate, Alex Pires.
Tucker Carlson Is An Embarrassment
“All that Carlson did is clip it to get an “angry black man” in the minds of Americans. It’s at once one of the most desperate and lame and vile plays of the race card I can remember – an obvious recognition that the 47 percent tape can only really be countered emotionally with race-baiting. […] Carlson used to be a brilliant writer. He’s now a racist demagogue. He’s a story in one person of how degenerate and disgusting much of American “conservatism” has become.”
This is all they’ve got left, folks. Expect more of this: Breaking News! Obama is an angry black man! I had actually hoped we’d moved beyond this crap. Silly me.
Wednesday Open Thread [10.3.12]
“As to Romney: It’s a mark of the fundamental vapidity of his campaign that his people think he can win with mere zingers. That isn’t Romney’s problem. His problem is that people don’t see any authenticity to the man, and basically (and perhaps, ergo) don’t like the person they see. They should be using this debate as a way to address those two deficits. Zingers won’t do that. I’d also bet you dollars to doughnuts that these zingers are written to please the right-wingers watching. That is his same-old problem, thinking that if he’s winning over the right, he’s winning over America.”
And that is why he fails. (using my best Yoda voice).
More Delaware GOP FAIL
The hapless Delaware GOP has decided to show the world just how toothless they currently are by deciding to try to gin up some pressure on Governor Jack Markell to not take a job that he doesn’t have an offer for yet. Seriously — this is what they want to talk about *today*. Remember, Politico posted up their highly speculative article, guessing that Gov. Markell would be selected for Secretary of Education in President Obama’s second term on September 14 (and Delaware Dem wrote about it the same day). 19 days later, GOP Chair Siglar and Gov. candidate Jeff Cragg are haplessly demanding that Governor Markell pledge to serve out his full term. More weak sauce from the Delaware GOP.
The Polling Report [10.3.12] — Dominique is no longer laughing Edition
Our resident racist Sarah Palin fan laughed at the notion that President Obama could be winning 350 electoral votes yesterday. Well, new polling released yesterday puts the President within 3 votes of that benchmark, and there is more bad news for her and her illiterate bigoted ilk: Romney is losing support in red states. New Polls out of Missouri and Louisiana show tightening races in those states.
Here is our new map today:
