John Scalzi Has A Few Words for the White Folk Freaking Out Over 4 More Years
What I really wish I could do is to ignore Fair Use and just repost the entire damn thing here. But to refresh, John Scalzi is the author of my Favorite Political Blog Post of All Time, and runs the blog Whatever, where he hold forth taunting the untauntable. Scalzi has provided some thoughts on the election, specifically directed to the white people in End Stage Freakout over the President’s win. Celia Cohen hints at Carper’s retirement
Too cute by half, and buried at the bottom of a pile of typical Cohen blah, blah, blah… she hints that this might be Carper’s last term.
Who knows? Carper talks to Cohen, so maybe there is something there. Or maybe she threw it in knowing that her Returns Day blog post was lighter than a balsa wood box filled with helium.
What should liberals do now to help keep the President on track?
I took a lot of shit around here because I pissed and moaned about how the President handled himself in his first term. (Apparently pissing and moaning is not considered constructive.) My point was that Republicans only understand boxing gloves and I wanted more boxing gloves from the President. More Muhammad Ali and less Jackie Robinson. Anything less, I argued, was a misreading of his enemies (yes, I said enemies) in the GOP.
But the President had a feckless Senate that couldn’t get enough of pretending that the Republicans called all the shots and there was no real mandate, or whatever… water under the bridge. That’s ancient history.
What do we do now? Today. What should I do in the next 5 minutes, to help Mr. Obama follow through and have a successful 2nd term in office? I’m honestly asking.

The first map is the population density map of the counties of the United States. To put it simply, it shows where the most people live. The darker the color the county is colored, the more people live there. The second map is another county map showing where Mitt Romney won the largest percentage of the vote. Notice a correlation?

2014 Prediction – More big money flowing to the GOP’s better liars
Booman makes a good point. Big money kept Obama from running up the score and Dems from winning more house seats. The next election we’ll see Republicans at every level trained to be better at lying, more able to disguise their views on women’s healthcare. I disagree with him that wingnut billionaires might be less inclined to spend their money on politics in the future. (What other investment provides the stratospheric ROI that owning two or three branches of government could provide?)
