“Hello Manny. I ran for president. I lost.” — Mitt Romney talking to boxer Manny Pacquiao in his dressing room before a fight last night. Pacquiao, who has expressed interest in running for office in the Philippines, was knocked out in the 6th round. Reverse Midas Touch for Mittens? Here is his reaction shot:
That is the reaction I imagined he had on November 6.
h/t to Rob Tornoe for the pic.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said that he’s “beginning to believe” that falling in line with President Obama’s call to raise taxes on the wealthy, then shifting the focus to reforming entitlements “is the best route for us to take” on the “fiscal cliff,” the Washington Post reports.
“There is a growing group of folks that are looking at this and realizing that we don’t have a lot of cards on the tax issue before year end. A lot of people are putting forth a theory and I actually think it has merit, where you go ahead give the president the two percent increase that he is talking about — the rate increase on the top two percent — and all of a sudden the shift goes back to entitlements.”
What is the point of the Romney pic and comment?
This is a political blog, and this is an open thread for posting whatever we want to talk about. And last night, Mitt Romney, loser of a presidential race, went out to wish Manny Pac well before the game, and then Manny got knocked out. That’s humorous. Reverse Midas Touch.
That’s the point.
And Anon, since when are you the arbiter of what is and what is not relevant?

Yea as long as the our so called “Blue Dogs do not fall in line with their “Republican Friends”
Looked to me like the point was to gloat. Six weeks after the election is a little much. It only makes us look bad, not the opposition.
This blog has been pointing and laughing at Multiple Choice Mitt for years. YEARS. It wasn’t gloating when we started, you know.
I like gloating. They deserve my gloating. And we deserve to gloat, not only for six weeks, but six months.
When Vance Phillips sent that watermelon to Manny, it was all over.
Republicans’ latest genius strategy: Give Obama a win on tax cuts, then next year fight like hell for Medicare cuts, maybe holding the debt limit hostage. I’ll take that fight. But I’d rather just let expiration do the work, and not give Republicans credit for compromising on something that is happening in three weeks anyway. After all, they did vote for the expiration, so let ’em have it.
You know, if Obama gives ANYTHING back to Republicans in exchange for their vote on tax increases, the narrative will forever be that Republicans forced Obama to cut spending, just as the revisionists are now claiming Newt was responsible for the Clinton boom.
I dont think any reasonable person thinks that, puck. GOP pimary voters… maybe.
Well, Republicans are at their lowest and most vulnerable point ever. Historically, this is Obama’s moment to throw them a life preserver.
“The narrative will forever be that Republicans forced Obama to cut spending, just as the revisionists are now claiming Newt was responsible for the Clinton boom.”
They will make up their own narrative no matter what. You can’t let that dictate your actions.
“Looked to me like the point was to gloat. Six weeks after the election is a little much. It only makes us look bad, not the opposition.”
In case you hadn’t noticed, the GOP got into their superior position by attacking Democrats all the time, not just during election season. The only way to kill roaches is to kill roaches.
Wow, Manny P lost. Mittens lost, but that was to be expected. But Manny P losing is a big freaking deal.
Hey puck, not so sorry the “Republicans are at their lowest and most vulnerable point ever”.
Throw them a G****amn ANCHOR.
That ‘s least the Republicans would have given the left if Mittens won!
