Rand Paul Is A Hypocrite And A 2016 Grandstanding Fool

Rand Paul decided to burnish his Tea Party cred at today’s Benghazi hearing with Hillary Clinton.

First, he claimed that by stepping down at Secretary of State she was assuming “the culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11.”

He then went on to say:

Had he been President at the time, Paul said, he would have relieved Clinton of her post. “I think it’s inexcusable,” he said.

Hey, Baby Paul!  Wanna know what’s really inexcusable?  You, pretending that under your reign the State Department would be able to defend its employees from anything.

In his own budget proposal for 2011, which called for a half a trillion dollars in across the board spending cuts, Paul proposed a $20 billion cut to the State Department. By way of comparison, the State Department’s core budget for the 2013 fiscal year is $43.4 billion. You can see that provision of his budget at the bottom of the page here.

Can we reconcile Rand Paul’s faux outrage with his own budget which would cut State Department by almost 50%? Someone needs to go back to the kiddie table.

And hats off to Dick Durbin:

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) defends Susan Rice. “Five words to reflect on: ‘Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction’. We were told at every level of government” that’s why we were invading Iraq. “They didn’t exist. We can have a hearing on that if you like.”
