Senator Carper reacts to the U.S. Post Office ending Saturday service. The Senator’s Postal Reform Bill would have ended the ridiculous pension saving requirement the Service is saddled with by statute, which is mostly responsible for the USPS’s continued financial woes.

Senator Coons gets the chairmanship of the Senate Bankruptcy Committee. Senator from Delaware, but of course.

Kavips asks an important question: is the Wilmington port deal the next Fisker?

Marc Ambinder: “The Democratic Party has two tiers of candidates. In order for the second tier of candidates to even conceive of running, then the first tier has to step aside. That first tier, of course, is occupied by Clinton. Her intentions are unknowable, but trust me when I tell you that, to the extent that the Democratic Party still has reliable donors and committed activists, the lion’s share are hoping Clinton runs and are ready to endorse her immediately. She is the 800-pound gorilla in a pantsuit. No one moves until she does.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) will deliver the GOP’s official response to President Obama’s State of the Union next week in both English and Spanish, Roll Call reports. Does teabaggery translate in Spanish?

    “…dinosaurs, space travel, modern art…”

    Hilarious.

    This is awesome: http://dailycaller.com/2013/02/07/letter-demands-firing-of-crossroads-aide-calls-bozell-critically-important-figure-in-american-history/

I can think of many things to describe Brent Bozell. “Critically important” and “legacy” would not be two of them.

  3. Jason330 says:

I hope the wingnuts get Collegio’s scalp. The would make him the first documented casualty of the “Schism to the Bottom”

After celebrating Bozell’s political connections and genetic pedigree for several paragraphs, the letter then turns its attention to Collegio, who is mocked for using “the language of the establishment Republicans.”

“You obviously mean to have a war with conservatives and the Tea Party,” the letter reads, referring to Collegio and his group. “Let it start here.”

Netflix’ ‘House of Cards’ is very good.

  5. cassandra m says:

It sure is! I’m pleasantly surprised at how well they’ve adapted it to US politics and updated it. And Kevin Spacey!

  6. Dave says:

I hope Clinton runs. I know many women would hail the election of a woman, just as many people hailed the election of someone of African heritage. I would hail her election because I believe she is competent and can lead effectively. That she is a woman is not very relevant to me one way or the other. My very very close second choice, which could easily shift to a first choice (remember I’m not a Democrat)is Jon Hunstman.

  7. socialistic ben says:

John Huntsman would win a national election, but NEVER a GOP primary. I’m willing to bet there are a ton of teabaggers who “wont make the Mormon mistake again”. If Hillary picked him as VP, they’d win over 35 states. (i know, we’ll never see another split-party ticket, but a guy can dream)

  8. Dave says:

Interesting thought. What if Hillary (who I will give seniority because of age and experience) shocked the nation and picked Hunstman?

It would be the death knell for the Tea Party and every other extreme right wing group.

That someone of his calibre could not win a GOP aptly demonstrates the state of the GOP and how far gone it is. That he has joined No Labels will surely make him an anathema to the dregs that remains of the GOP.

  9. Jason330 says:

She would be the instant hero of the inside the beltway taste makers.

  10. puck says:

After Joe Biden, why not an actual Republican?

  11. Jason330 says:

It would be the apotheosis of bi-partisanship, the long awaited harmonic convergence, and the oft foretold singularity all bound up in one political ticket.

On the bright side, David Broder would orgasm himself to death.

  12. puck says:

Mitch McConnell is already wetting his pants about Ashley Judd. Although I can’t swear that he wasn’t already incontinent. In any case, Karl Rove has found his next paycheck.

  13. Jason330 says:

Turtles don’t have bladders. Waste just trickles out on a continuous basis.

  14. socialistic ben says:

i guess in McConnell’s case it all dribbles out his mouth

  15. mediawatch says:

Broder already dead, no final orgasm reported
